AGOL Introduction

What is ArcGIS Online?

 ArcGIS Online enables you to connect people, locations, and data by using interactive maps. Work with smart, data-driven styles and intuitive analysis tools that deliver location intelligence. Share your insights with the world or specific groups. - ESRI

Access to the City and County of Denver AGOL is provided to those who meet the access requirements.

Request for an AGOL account is made through  Support Now .

AGOL Content

Members can view/create content depending on their privileges.

Members with privileges to create content should utilize authoritative data from  the Denver Open Data Catalog Group  to ensure data is accurate and consistently updated before sharing content internally or externally.

AGOL members can determine authoritative data from non-authoritative data by looking for a green checkmark (starred in the image below). For example, AGOL members in Map Viewer can search for key words in “My Organization” and find authoritative content which has a green checkmark.

Authoritative Content in Map Viewer

AGOL members should reach out to  TS GIS Services   when a desired dataset is not found in the Denver Open Data Catalog.

AGOL Sharing

AGOL offers different sharing levels for content in order to restrict who can view certian content.

Members with privileges to alter sharing levels must abide by The City and County of Denver standards. Never share personal or restricted information publicly.

AGOL Groups

Groups are essential for organizing and sharing content. Members can view/create groups depending on their privileges.

AGOL Map Viewer

Map Viewer is used to create interactive web maps that tell stories and answer questions while incorporating a combination of data layers.

Map Viewer Analysis

Map Viewer has a variety of tools to perform analysis on feature and raster data. Keep in mind that analysis cost credits and each member is provided a credit limit.

If a member wants to perform geocoding analysis, they should fist reach out to  TS GIS Services  before performing geocoding.
