Restoration and support conditions in the quake-affected areas and efforts to return life to normal are seen in photographs along with location information.
Several weeks have passed since a massive earthquake hit the Noto Peninsula on New Year’s Day. Relief efforts continue amid severe weather and harsh natural conditions as people assist disaster victims still suffering from the combined damage of landslides and tsunami. Some victims are beginning to make efforts to move on and return to a normal life, if only a little.
Quake-hit areas as seen by reporters
Yomiuri Shimbun staff writers and photographers witnessed rescue efforts being made at collapsed houses in the harsh cold, search operations for missing people and support coming in from across Japan. They reported on the current situation in disaster-stricken areas and spoke with people on the scene.

Yomiuri Shimbun personnel took about 100 photos in Ishikawa, Toyama and Niigata prefectures that were then posted online with location information.
