This website succeeds the report entitled Washington State Legislature Climate Scorecard (2021/22) and Natural Risk Score . After taking Professor Dolšak’s undergraduate course on Climate Governance (ENVIR/SMEA 201) at the University of Washington, the student co-authors all volunteered to join this project because of the recognized importance of policy making transparency in an election cycle year. For detailed information on the indicators presented here, see the Climate Action in Washington Legislature, 2023/24 Session report. This website aims to give an interactive overview of climate voting in the Washington state legislature during the 2023-2024 cycle. Legislative districts are overlayed on a map of annual loss in dollars from heat waves and their relative risk, and legislators are assigned climate scores based on their votes on climate bills in 2023/24 session.
