Gillian Tett is editor-at-large, US and chair of the editorial board at the  Financial Times . She writes  weekly columns  covering a range of economic, financial, political and social issues. Recently, she launched  FT Moral Money , a new initiative of FT that will explore the fast-growing, international shift towards ethical, sustainable, and responsible investing.

An accomplished journalist, in 2014, she was named Columnist of the Year in the British Press Awards and was the first recipient of the Royal Anthropological Institute Marsh Award. In June 2009 her book Fool’s Gold won Financial Book of the Year at the inaugural Spear’s Book Awards.

Paulson Institute Executive Director and Vice Chairman Deborah Lehr spoke with Ms. Tett in the  latest installment  of The Green Team Speaks To interview series. With the world in the throes of responding to the COVID-19 virus outbreak, Ms. Tett offers her insights on green finance and the ESG agenda in these extraordinary times. She cites reasons for possible pessimism as governments may decide to rebuild their economies at any cost. But also reasons for great optimism as the world realizes that science can't be ignored, and that we are all as vulnerable as our weakest link. Hear Ms. Tett describe the role of environment, social, and governance (ESG) principles as part of the solution for the global economic recovery.
