On January 26, 2024, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the City of San Francisco published a Draft Integrated Feasibility Report and Environmental Impact Statement (Draft Report) that fulfills the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) requirements. The Draft Report includes the Draft Plan to build coastal flood defenses. It provides an analysis of the costs, benefits, and environmental impacts of actions proposed in the Draft Plan. If approved by Congress, the Federal government may pay up to 65% of the construction cost to fund the implementation of the coastal flood defenses proposed. Cost estimates are preliminary, high-level, and subject to change.

The infographic below illustrates the stages of the process. We are currently at stage 6 - Public Review of Draft Report.
