An email was sent to all participants of Veritas 2019
Later that day, we received a message from our documentary subject Yajie, that National Security Bureau had pressured the school they were intended to hold the event in to withdraw the venue.

Another email came
As Zoey and Sam arrived in Xi'an, they discovered that all the board members of Veritas had been taken into police custody.
Police station where students were taken custody
They were suspected of running illegal business and illegal teaching. However, some suspect there are political reasons behind the shutdown of Veritas, since National Security Bureau was involved. After returning all the students' tuition, the last member of Veritas' board member were released. They had a meal of reunion later that night.
After returning to their Airbnb after the dinner, our subjects asked us to stop the filming. Later that night, we received a phone call from them, demanding us to delete the footage we have shot, since the police might use those footage against them. They might still be under surveillance. They also warned Zoey and Sam of the possibility of being arrested for filming the whole incident.
As Zoey and Sam were having the phone call with their subjects, a sound of tapping came from the door...
We opened the door but found no one outside.
We didn't delete the footage. Our documentary subject had decided to leave the city immediately the next day.
Two months later, the board of Veritas reunited in New York City. They will be holding a fundraising event for Veritas. Meanwhile, we showed them the footage we have shot this summer.
We talked a lot about censorship and self-censorship among activists.
The next evening, the fundraising event has come to a climax followed by Tom's, our main subject, inspiring speech.
In the end, Veritas managed to revive after the disheartening shutdown in the summer.
