2020 and Beyond: The Sinclair Site

2020 saw the beginning of a long-term project to investigate Lot 34 South, home of Archibald Sinclair.

Geophysical findings

Combined geophysical data for Lot 34 South. Anomalies/Features from each data set were overlaid onto a single map to identify similarities and patterns. FOFR 2020.

Before the project began a 2x2m grid was established over lot 34 South. Excavations units were pre-labeled according to this system.

Summary

Analysis of materials is ongoing. It appears the early levels are filled with 19th-early20th century materials mixed with 18th century artifacts. It is possible that the foundation of Sinclair's house formed a low spot in the landscape that was then later used as a refuse or trash pit.

More excavations are planned for 2021 that will continue current units and to identify the corners of the tabby foundations.
