LIFT Navigation

Accessible indoor navigation for public transport

About the Project

Our main goal is to increase the accessibility of public transport by preparing a solution that facilitates its use by people with physical disabilities, the blind, the deaf, and the elderly. It will make it possible to plan routes around facilities serving metro or rail travelers, taking into account the limitations of these people - from finding the right elevator on the surface, through station corridors, to the platform.

People with Special Needs

The problem of moving around the metro affects many groups of people, including:

Case study

We're building our solution based on the Warsaw Metro located in Poland. The Metro itself, as well as the most used apps for navigation in Poland, have several problems, which our app will solve.

Solutions

Don't know which elevators are working?

Our app shows the users which elevators are broken. This is done in two ways:

  • by marking broken elevators in red on the map, so the user is able to find them easily,
  • by listing them on a dedicated panel.

In addition, when navigating, our app takes into account the elevators that are out of order and omits them.

Cannot find elevators?

The user can find the exact elevator locations on the map, which makes planning their route easier. The app also locates the nearest elevator based on the user's position and automatically fills the station and elevator selection boxes.

Don't know how to get out of the station?

We bring you a solution that is a combination of step-by-step navigation instructions and augmented reality photos. This way users with different preferences are able to navigate through stations in the most fitting way.
