The strongest Cyclonic Storm in History Of Arabian Sea

Super Cyclonic Storm Gonu,

Where IS Oman?

June 06, 2007

Cyclone Gonu hit eastern Oman near Ras al Hadd with very strong winds, the strongest ever recorded in the region. It brought heavy rain, causing floods in some areas. The capital, Muscat, also experienced strong winds. The storm was so severe that it forced Oman's main oil port, Mina al Fahal, to close for three days. Many homes and vehicles were damaged, and there were power outages. Sadly, 50 people lost their lives, and the damage cost Oman a lot of money. In the United Arab Emirates, high waves from Gonu forced hundreds of people to leave their homes. The cyclone later moved on to Iran.
