The Bay of Green Bay NERR

A tour of the Recommended Components

Welcome!

This mapping app presents a tour of the recommended natural areas to be included in the proposed Bay of Green Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve. Note: only publicly owned or land trust properties within these areas are eligible to be included in the Bay of Green Bay NERR. Official land and water boundaries have not yet been set but will include a refinement of what is featured on these maps. The selection of a site for the NERR visitor/education center will occur at a later date. You can tour the recommended components. You can use the navigation tools to view each component up close, and see which entities manage specific areas in each component. For more information on the proposed NERR, see  this link.

The Bay of Green Bay NERR will focus on Wisconsin waters of Green Bay.  In this app you will visit each of the recommended components for the new NERR. Each of these areas contains various publicly accessible lands that are being considered for the NERR. To visit the components, just scroll down through the tour.

Before you get started, note that varoius organizations manage the lands within the components. The followoing legend is a color "key" to knowing which lands are managed by each organization. You can also click on the map for more information.

When viewing maps you can view the legend again by just clicking the button in the lower left of the map that looks like this:

To close the legend, just click on the little down arrow in the top right of the legend.

Enjoy!
