Arab Spring, Tunisia
The Arab spring was a cultural upheaval that started in Tunisia where the authorities confiscated his wares. He doused himself in gasoline, and set himself on fire. This was the catalyst of the first Arab spring, which changed the governments of many of the Arab countries in north Africa. It has been called “The biggest transformation of the Middle East since decolonization”, and the government was overthrown.

The border of north Africa- the sahara
The sahara is the border of north africa. As the worlds largest hot dessert, it is almost impossible to cross without extensive preparation. It’s existence is the reason why the northern African countries were so different from central and south africa, as it was hard to get news of what was going on across a 200 mile gap, where next to no water could be found. The People in this image are the traders who travel though the dessert to trade with the other side, as you can see they cannot use horses, and have to use camels to travel./

Fes Morocco
Fes is commonly considered the cultural capital of Morcocco. It reached it zenith in the 15th century, but many spanish attacks and the collapse of granada caused the powerful country of morocco to come under Spanish control. It was under colonial control until 1956, when Morocco got out of French rule, and it lost the bid to become the capital, with many of the upper classes leaving. As you can see, the old architecture is put next to street venders, in one complex web of a city.
The pyramids
The Pyramids are one of the most famous buildings in not only north africa, but the world. built 4000 years old but the old empires on the Nile, they were build by laborers to hold the emperors of the kingdoms. the largest, The great pyramid of Giza, is a crypt for Khufu , the greatest of the pharaohs. For thousands of years, they were the tallest buildings in the world.
Marrakesh, Morocco
Jemaa El Fna square, is an open air bazaar. the venders take up the square and also the remnants of an abandoned mosque located in the square. this shows the rich history of northern Africa and how it has been incorporated into modern day. it also shows the unique ways that goods are traded.
Western Sahara
The western Sahara is one of the most dangerous places in north Africa. Claimed by Morocco, but claiming to be it's own country, there has been a civil war going on since Morocco has been freed from French rule. About 80% of the region is controlled by Morocco, but the rest is under control of a break away state, the "Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic" . Almost 40% of the population lives in the Moroccan controlled city of Laayoune.

Al Bayda, Libya
Rural land use: many north African countries struggle with water scarcity due to lack of arable land and limited access to fresh water. Countries have adapted rural land use practices to supply agriculture etc.
Bouskoura Morroco
the predominant religion in North Africa is Islam, with around 90 percent of the population being Muslim. we can assume that this religion affects cultural beliefs. and we can also see that praying is a closed gender space, with only males
Algiers, Algeria
the people of Algeria celebrating a football victory, in the streets of their capitol. this represents the cultural views on public expression in the form of parades protests etc. and cultural values like sports.
