The U.S. Southwest region is comprised of six states, including Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, and Utah.

The Southwest region faces negative health effects from climate change, including:

  • Temperature-related death and illness
  • Poor air quality
  • Extreme weather events
  • Vector-borne diseases
  • Water-borne Illnesses
  • Poor food safety and access to nutritious food
  • Poor mental health
