Social Issues in the Urban Context- SOC 3300-01 Spring 2020

" Human progress is neither automatic nor inevitable… Every step toward the goal of justice requires sacrifice, suffering, and struggle; the tireless exertions and passionate concern of dedicated individuals." - MLK

Where upward mobility begins

Educational Attainment Layer in arcGis helps spectators see the unequal amount of minority communities in Los Angeles that are able to attain a higher education for a variety of reasons.

We may take into consideration...

    •  Affordable Housing Development shows how the clustering of these homes are

predominantly in minority group neighborhoods. For decades affordable housing has been build and rented in minority groups neighborhoods at a higher rate than those of white neighborhoods. With prevalent costs of living in Los Angeles, this prevents minority individuals from moving into other areas, thus promoting segregation throughout the city of Los Angeles.

Our Goals for Social Justice...

To create policies that will provide educational and professional opportunities for minority groups.
