Capital Priorities Overview

2024-25

Approved capital priorities

The Ministry of Education (MOE) funds capital projects, taking into consideration the overall accommodation needs across the province. School boards are asked to prioritize their most urgent capital needs and submit respective business cases to secure funding. Capital priority submissions were last completed in October 2023. The following summarizes the priorities that received capital funding approvals as a result of previous submissions.

2023-24 submitted capital priorities

The following projects were submitted to the Ministry of Education (MOE) in October 2023 in accordance with the MOE requirements. It is anticipated MOE will announce approvals in early 2024.

2023 future capital projects

Given that the 2023-24 Capital Priorities program typically requests projects that are to be completed within a three-year window, the SCDSB has further accommodation pressures which will need to be addressed. The following list shows additional capital priorities required based upon municipal growth plans. These priorities are being monitored to ensure that the capital project aligns with the build out of their community.

Given the extensive residential growth expected to occur within Simcoe County, new schools, school replacement, and school additions will be necessary to accommodate our future students. Capital priorities will continue to evolve as growth progresses.
