4-H GIS Play Day

We tossed the Earth globe ball to see if there was more water or land on Earth. After 100 tosses we found that there was 64% water to 36% land by our calculations. When we tossed the ball, we would record what our right thumb was touching on the ball.

We found a geocache under the rocks at the 4-H Education Center and Park. There was SWAG to trade in the geocache.

There was a whole bunch of tracks near each other from the GPS Unit. We downloaded them to Google Earth Pro and we could see where the geocache was, how fast we walked or ran, and the elevations we were at, 817 feet above sea level.

"Yo, I got a FREE microscope!," said Zane.

Scientist can make this for $1.00 each, so people can have a microscope all over the world. You can even look at blood in these, after hand spinning it to make it separate into its parts. "Looking at pond water is great too!," said Devon

"That looks cool!", said Mitchell

We also made florescent bracelets and keychains with beads that show a particular color when exposed to light.

What spectras do you see when looking through the spectrascopes?

Looking at maps to try and determine which map represents summer, as it shows the most solar fluorescence from the sun. Then which is Spring, Winter and Fall?
