Tacos El Gavilan

Expansion Into Universities

Tacos El Gavilan formed in 1992 with it's first location opening in Los Angeles. Fast forward to 2020, and they now have 13 locations with more to come.

One main aspect that comes to Tacos El Gavilan, is that it is a family-orientated Mexican fast food restaurant. We opt for no alcohol sales while providing a lively dining room for families to enjoy together. Mexican families have always been the main customer for Tacos El Gavilan. I, however, believe it would be worthwhile to widen up the target audience.

By taking a look at the map above, one can clearly surmise that there are many Universities within the surrounding areas of LA County and Orange County.

By targeting Universities with on-site housing, Tacos El Gavilan can spread to younger consumers which would benefit the company tremendously.

Not only this, but Tacos El Gavilan would also have a large number of residents/commuters passing by this brand new modernized Mexican fast food restaurant. With a total student population of more than 40,000 students at Cal State Fullerton, this definitely would make an impact.

Many come to compare Tacos El Gavilan like a Mexican In-N-Out. The color schemes do fit well between the two companies. With a nice modernized building, Tacos El Gavilan is sure to turn some eyes.

To summarize, by investing in opening locations near universities, Tacos El Gavilan could benefit from a new customer base that has not yet been explored.

More specifically, by using GIS to locate and decide which Universities would be best suited for Tacos El Gavilan by taking into account major demographics surrounding each school, on-site housing, and total student population.
