The Influence of Vaping Companies On Teenagers

Overview

Here to the right is the number of vape shops I pass on the route from my house to my school. I'll be showing another route, Hillsborough Street when we reach Western Blvd.

Cloud Heaven

This is the first store that is nearest to my neighborhood.

Look at those eye-catching flashy signs as well as various vaping products that are advertised right on the front windows.

Tobacco & Vapes

Let's talk about the second store I pass on Maynard Rd.

You can see a similar pattern with the flashy signs as well as various advertisements. This store is more bold with the title letting customers know what they are selling and to bring them in.

Smoke For Less

This is the third store I pass that's on E Chatham St.

Here the title speaks for itself, by enticing potential customers to buy products for less money. You can see those similar advertisements of smoking and cigars.

Tobacco & 99 ¢ Plus

This is the fourth store I pass on the same street.

There is a similarity with this store and the one before because both are targeting price sensitive customers. This store is also the first one that has a vaping lounge, that might add to luring in customers.

Kenzy Mart

This is the fifth store I pass once I enter Raleigh, on Western Blvd.

This store is interesting because of the way they are engaging their customers. This store has an in-built arcade and a lounge where customers can hang out, play games, and socialize.

Smoke Rings Smoke Shop

This is the first store that comes up once we turn into Hillsborough St. This area is where the target customers are NC State students.

King Tobacco - Vape - Hookah

This is the second store on Hillsborough St.

As you see can this is a very bold standalone store, having its own plaza and dedicated parking lot. The "King" logo is speaking for the huge sized ads, windows, and names. This is also the first store that includes Hookah.

Good Guy Vapes

This is the third store on Hillsborough St.

This store is trying to convey a socially responsible message to existing tobacco users about vaping in a subtle way. Basically, saying that you become a "good guy" with vaping and their price is right.

College Beverage 1

This is the fourth store on Hillsborough St.

This store doesn't really need any fancy advertisement because their location is right in the middle of Hillsborough St. Especially with the color and their mascot, they pretend they're the official store.

Kitsch

This is the fifth store on Hillsborough St.

This store is keeping it very low-key and for them being located right next to Target is a big advantage for them.

High Life Smoke Shop

This is the sixth store on Hillsborough St.

This store is getting us closer to Raleigh Downtown. This store is interesting because it not only sells vape products but also selling lifestyle products like tapestries, candles, incense, and more.

5 Star Tobacco & Vapes

Now we're back on the Western Blvd route. This is the twelfth store.

This store is focused on selling both Tobacco and Vapes. There aren't a lot of flashy signs but they're traditional product posters.

Akhenaten Palace

This is the thirteenth store, that's on Western Blvd.

This store isn't only dedicated to vapes but a multi purpose store. This includes phones, candles, body oils, incense, cigars, and more. This one is also a very small store in a big complex, trying to be low-key.

Revolution Smoke & Vape

This is the fourteenth store I pass on Avent Ferry Blvd.

This store is in proximity to student halls and apartments. When I took this picture, I remember students were coming out of the store vaping then going across to get pizza from Papa John's. This seems to be a go-to place to vape and hang.

Capital Smoke of Raleigh

This is the fifteenth store that's on W Martin St.

This is another multi purpose store selling cigars, vape, and merchandise.

Ayad Tobacco Mart

We enter New Bern Avenue which is the closest street near my school, Enloe High School. This is the first store on New Bern Ave.

This store is more run down and this is the first store that has some snacks and drinks.

Hemp Tobacco Vape & Kratom

This is the second store on New Bern Ave. This is most nearest store to my school.

This store is right across Enloe High School. Most of the Enloe students that vape go to this store. This store doesn't have that fancy look compared to the ones on Hillsborough street or around my neighborhood. It sells both vape and tobacco products.
