Polar Vortex

These are the cities in Canada that are affected by the polar vortex. Especially in this year's polar vortex, these cities get large amounts of snow and extremely low temperatures. This is a huge inconvenience, as ice or snow would form on major highways, blocking the way for transportation. Power outages may happen, which would affect people in the cities, as everyone depends on electricity as a necessity. Heavy snow and ice would cause more accidents on major roads, which would slow things down. Some people may die due to the harsh climate, but that is unlikely since these five cities are well prepared for extreme temperatures/extreme snowfall. Toronto is mainly filled with people living, so either dangerous plane landings or power shortages may be the biggest cause. Other cities like Winnipeg and Regina may be affected differently as they are mostly used for agriculture, so crops and livestock may freeze if not maintained properly.

As you can see on the map, this year's polar vortex has spread very far South to unprepared American cities that have not felt heavy snow and low temperatures for a long time.
