1991, North Carolina
Martha Waters, age 2, sits in the backyard of her family's home in the North Carolina mountains. Waters and her family spent numerous summers there.

2006, Cotswolds
Waters, age 17, visits the Cotswolds during a spring break holiday. This was Waters' first time in England.

2009, London
Waters visits London for a semester abroad while attending the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Waters later applied for the Global Talent visa and returned to London in 2023.

2017, North Carolina
Waters works as a children's librarian at the Chapel Hill Public Library. After her debut novel, "To Have and To Hoax," found success, Waters left her job and moved to Portland, Maine.
2020, North Carolina
Waters receives the first copy of her debut novel, "To Have and To Hoax." Weeks later, the COVID-19 pandemic hit, forcing her to cancel her book tour plans.
2024, Texas
Waters prepares to sign books at Book Bonanza, a book convention in Texas. Waters teased her upcoming contemporary romance novel, "Christmas Is All Around," which was released in October 2024.
