The Vines

874 N 1 Rd.

Although our vineyards are still fairly young, we have big plans for our future. It takes time for a vineyard to become mature and produce grapes for making wine. Hence, the time from vine planting to wine can take up to 6 years.

At present, we provide vineyard tours for individuals and small groups interested in learning more about wine grape growing. Call for your reservation date.

On weekends, you’ll find extra fun like pumpkin launching slingshots, a farm scavenger hunt, barrel train rides and other farm games. Meet and feed the farm animals at the petting zoo. There are many photo opportunities so don’t forget your cameras. Enjoy tasty treats and non-alcoholic beverages. The pumpkin patch is available for educational tours and private parties.

Schaake's Pumpkin Patch

One of the long-standing, rich, family traditions in Lawrence includes a visit to Schaake’s Pumpkin Patch on a beautiful autumn day. This farm was built on integrity, work ethic and family values. For the past 40 years, Larry and Janet Schaake’s family farm has hosted thousands of urban visitors including school children and families from the northeast Kansas area and surrounding states.

Washington Creek Lavender Farm

858 E 800 Rd.

It is our labor of love! With more than 6,000 thriving lavender plants our passion for this wonderful plant grows and grows. For many years we wanted to grow lavender, enchanted with the idea of seeing beautiful purple plants dotting the horizon in rows like little soldiers, ready and able to heal, relax and sooth. We are still fascinated by its ability to mesmerize as it relaxes and stimulates.

Although we have grown over the last few years, our farm continues to represent our desire to provide the community with fresh, delicious, and responsibly-grown fruits and veggies. Thank you for your continued support.
