Mamar Mosque

Location: Mamar, Qubadli

Condition Assessment

Status: Major damage

Located in the village of Mamar, in the Qubadli district, this mosque appears on the list of heritage sites of the Republic of Azerbaijan (inventory No. 4713) as an architectural monument dating to the 18 th  century. 1 

Comparison of Hexagon satellite imagery dated July 1980 2  with satellite imagery captured in October 2009 3  shows that the mosque sustained major damage when its roofing was torn down.

From October 2009 until the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh War, the mosque building remained in this damaged condition.  Videos  post-dating the war show that while the area was under Armenian administration, the remaining structure was used for keeping animals.
