Gellatly Nut Farm Regional Park

A century-old nut orchard on the shores of Okanagan Lake that includes a small beach and easy walking paths.

Washrooms, Picnic Tables, Swimming, Playground, Heritage Buildings, Accessible (easy trails and washrooms), On-Leash Dogs (Beach trail only)

Gellatly Nut Farm Regional Park is 4 ha located on the shores of Okanagan Lake in West Kelowna. There are heritage buildings, a playground, a small beach, and short flat walking trails.

The park is based around a heritage nut farm with several varieties of nuts grown in this working orchard (chestnuts, hazelnuts, walnuts, butternuts, heartnuts and buartnuts). Nut sales occur early September through late October when the nuts ripen and fall off the trees. Hazelnuts tend to ripen in early September; walnuts and chestnuts tend to ripen in late September (weather dependent).

October 2024: Nut yields, like many crops in the Central Okanagan, were significantly lower this year due to the extreme cold in January. This affected the overall nut harvest and availability especially for some varieties. Hopefully, the trees will resume normal production and produce a good crop for 2025.

November 2024: The Gellatly Nut Farm Society has received a generous donation of chestnuts from a farm in Kaleden, which had originally purchased their chestnut trees from the Gellatly Nut Farm. The nut sales booth will be open this coming weekend to sell these nuts on Saturday, November 9 and Sunday, November 10, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The nut sales are complete for 2024. Check back next year for the fall harvest.

When available all varieties of nuts are $5/lb, either u-pick or already picked. Availability varies as nuts ripen over the season.

The Gellatly Nut Farm Society oversees nut harvests and sales. All proceeds go back into the park to help with upkeep and improvements. Nuts are sold during the fall harvest only, from approximately early September to late October.

A variety of nuts grow in the heritage orchard, including chestnuts, hazelnuts, walnuts, butternuts, heartnuts and buartnuts. For more information see the  nut use and care  guide.
