Acies by George Bates
Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic panels / 48"-102" x 66" panels
These 24 windscreen panels, one at each station along the corridor, all feature an abstract line element that connects the stations. Each panel also incorporates unique laser-cut designs that relate to local architecture, crafts, culture, history, people, and nature. The word “Acies” is an obsolete word that comes from Latin and can be interpreted as line or lines, or “the full attention of one’s sight, hearing, or other senses, as directed toward a particular object.” The artist intends that each time a viewer directs their attention toward the artwork they will find different stories with the panels, as well as a moment of thoughtful reflection.
