Whitehall Township Authority

Serving water since 1947. Securing our water together.

Where does our water come from?

Many people who use water from a public water supply don't really know where their water comes from. At Whitehall Township Authority our water comes from several groundwater wells, and the groundwater is moving through portions of several watersheds. The Jordan Creek, Coplay Creek, Lehigh River, and Catasauqua Creek Watersheds all contribute to our groundwater supply. Check out the video below for a refresher on the water cycle which includes the flow of groundwater just like the water we pump from wells and eventually deliver to your home ready to drink. Can you find your home watershed on the map?

Water and You: The Water Cycle

Good Housekeeping Water Resources

Each one of us has an opportunity to preserve our water today and for generations in our community by making good choices on our own properties and public grounds. To illustrate this connectedness, the map shows areas that are served by community water systems in PA. Groundwater infiltrates the ground from the land surface, so what we do on the land can preserve or deter the quality of our own drinking water as well as our neighboring communities. Check out the practical brochures below to learn more ideas about how you can help.

Join the Conservation Effort

Lehigh County has various organizations for conservation-minded volunteers to engage in opportunities to help preserve our water resources. Some examples include activities like watershed clean-ups, education events, or tree plantings. They are also great sources of information for good housekeeping and best management practices on your own lands. Check out their home pages below.
