Redlands Attractions and History
A closer look into the city of Redlands, CA
The University of Redlands was established in 1907. The university was founded to help propel the city forward and further their residents education.
The university started with only 10 courses available and has now grown to provide over 40 different pathways to graduate with an undergraduate degree.
The Redlands bowl area has history dating back to 1769 and the land has undergone many changes since then. The beautification and expansion of the Redlands was started to diversify the city. What was once a small agricultural town, is now a booming city filled with community events and several different job opportunities. The town hosts a summer music festival to bring their residents together to enjoy art together at no cost to their attendees. Being inclusive is the main priority for the Redlands bowl and they are determined to keep it that way.
ESRI was founded in 1969 by Laura and Jack Dangermond. Their combined background in STEM pathways and knowledge of environmental planning created one of the most essential developments in technology. ESRI is used for digital mapping, analysis of geographic information, and much more. They started their business with a small idea that has branched out to become bigger than they ever imagined. ESRI was very important to them so they decided the best location for the headquarters was in their hometown of Redlands, CA.
The Citrus Plaza was founded in 2005. The Redlands was growing rapidly and residents were in need of a shopping center with a wide array of restaurants and retail stores. The builders did an amazing and thorough job by taking the residents into account and choosing stores that were needed and that would help boost the economy. They incorporated a Spanish design to flow with the major theme and culture of the city.
Although the major population is white, the city has a large population of POC, providing a good amount of diversity and culture.
