Mission Statement

"Our team is passionate about making a meaningful impact in our community. We are comprised of a multi-disciplinary team that shares a common vision: To promote local engagement and sustainable practices within our community. Our goal is to increase collaboration among youth and share perspectives to collectively develop innovative solutions."

Description

Situated at the west end of Lake Ontario, Hamilton is home to a rich history of economic and urban growth led by industrialization. Unsustainable development practices throughout the year have resulted in the neglect of Hamilton's Harbour area, and further degraded the environment.

Our solution aims to promote engagement through collaboration amongst high-school and post-secondary students within our community.

Our How Might We Question

How might we empower Hamilton youth to engage with the Hamilton Harbour's rehabilitation?

Human Centred Design

Human centered design operates under principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion. To us, it means designing not only for performance, but also equally considering the social, economic, environmental, and regulatory aspects and impacts of a design. The concepts of Human Centered Design serve as a foundation for all our decisions as a team. At each step in our problem-solving process, we strive to involve those directly affected by social issues in the development process, and to understand those individuals’ needs, motivations, and concerns. As a result, we define and solve problems from the end-user’s perspective, while ensuring that we include all people, especially those in our community who are most vulnerable and dependent on local services.
