Solar panels on campus

You might not be able to tell from the ground, but Wilson Hall is now one of 32 buildings across campuses that are home to rooftop solar PV panels. Visit  energy  to find out how we are on track to achieve net zero emissions from electricity by 2021.

Water Refill Stations

Choosing to refill a reusable water bottle instead of buying a disposable one is an easy way to reduce single-use plastic and save money! Next time you’re on campus, locate your nearest water refill station using the  Sustainability@Unimelb  map.

Community Garden

The Community Garden provides a space at the heart of campus to learn about gardening, enjoy the biodiversity and grab some herbs to add to your lunch. Find out when the next working bee or gardening workshop is at the Community Garden’s  Facebook page.

Billibellary's Walk

Embark on a cultural journey of the Parkville campus landscape. This  self-guided tour  provides an experience of connection to country which Wurundjeri people continue to have both physically and spiritually.

Glyn Davis Building

Home to the Melbourne School of Design, the Glyn Davis Building has sustainable features including zinc panelling, a 750kL water tank, and the incorporation of a heritage-listed Joseph Reed façade. Visit  sustainable buildings  to learn more.

Green Caffeen

Forgot to bring your reusable coffee cup? No worries! Grab your caffeine hit without the single-use waste by purchasing from participating Green Caffeen cafes on campus such as  home.two . Just download the app and they’ll give you your coffee in a reusable cup – at no extra cost! Just return it next time you walk past a participating café. Bike Collective

The Bike Collective is a space run by student volunteers that offers free bike repairs and advice at Union House. To find out its opening times, attend an event or inquire about volunteering, contact the  UMSU Environment Department .

Reduce the impact of your lunch with the reusable dish service, the 'Choose to Reuse' Plate Program. Check out  our website  to find out more!

Food waste processor

Learn how the food waste processor reduces the amount of food waste going to landfill at Union House. Next time you grab lunch, place your food scraps in the organics bins to ensure they get processed and used for compost. For more information visit  Reduce, Reuse, Recycle .

Bees@UniMelb

Did you know that two thirds of the type of foods we eat would not be available without bees? Bees@UniMelb is a volunteer-run initiative of six beehives that increase the biodiversity of our urban campuses. Learn more at  Biodiversity .

Western Edge BioSciences Building

The Western Edge Biosciences building (WEBs) is the second University building to receive a six star Green Star Design and As Built rating, representing world leadership in sustainable building design and construction. Find out about more of its features at  sustainable buildings

Bike repair stations

Our bike repair stations provide tools to complete minor repairs to your bike while on campus, including a pump, set of allen keys, screw drivers, wrenches and tyre levers. Locate your nearest bike repair station by using our 'Cycling@Unimelb' map on the  sustainability website .

Furniture and Equipment Reuse Service

Order or donate workstations, chairs or storage solutions for reuse across the University via the Furniture and Equipment Reuse Service. University of Melbourne staff can browse available items from the  online shop .
