Ridges Tree Tour

For more tours visit  mAppAthens

This loop highlights a magnificent array of trees on the Ridges Green. The tour begins near the parking area in front of the central museum building (Lin Hall). As you continue along the loop, you will learn about distinctive features of key trees, some that reveal interesting aspects of their history. Keep an eye out for the Pacific Fir and Sweetgum trees, both state of Ohio champions for their species. This tour changes with the seasons, so come back again, taking time to stop at each tree and carefully observe the bark, leaves, and any flowers or fruits.

The Ridges Tree Tour loop was developed by Susan Calhoun, Landscape Coordinator for the OHIO Grounds Department and Honors Tutorial student Emma Little, in collaboration with Dr. Nancy J. Stevens and the  mAppAthens  team. Images by Emma Little. Story Map developed by the Voinovich School GIS Team.
