New Branson Police Station
About the Project
In 2018 the Branson Police Department purchased land for a new police station at 311 Forsythe St. in hopes to build a new station. However, in July 2022, the Board of Aldermen voted to initiate the process to purchase the old White House Theater, located at 2255 Gretna Rd., with the intent to renovate it to become the new Branson Police Department. The purchase and repurposing of this building will save the city millions of dollars from the original proposed plan as it is more than double the square footage of the 30,000 sq. foot original building plan and will relocate the police into a much-needed new home many years ahead of the original estimated timeline. In addition to housing the Branson Police Department, the complex will also be home to the Branson Fire Department’s administration, an Emergency Operations Center, and an integrated Dispatch Center. The City will sell the land previously purchased and will put the money towards the purchase of the new Branson Police Department building.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why is this project needed?
The Branson Police Department has long outgrown its current location at the bottom of City Hall. The Police Department needs a new headquarters to provide the necessary space to properly house the Branson Police staff which has more than tripled from what the current 9,000 sq. foot Police Department was designed to handle. It also needs a new headquarters in order to meet industry standards and best practices for areas such as evidence processing and storage, records management, dispatch, arrestee holding areas, locker rooms, equipment storage, K9 maintenance, report and training rooms, and secure department vehicle parking.
Where is this project occurring?
The new Branson Police station is located at 2255 Gretna Rd. and sits on 11.8 acres.

Compton Drive Wastewater Treatment Plant Flood Protection System
Image of the Compton Wastewater Treatment Plant showing the location of the proposed flood protection system.
About the Project
The Compton Drive Wastewater Treatment Plant is used to provide sewage treatment for residents and businesses in Branson in addition to a large area in Taney County, north of Branson City Limits and the Stonebridge Subdivision located within Stone County. This project would build a nine-foot-high, permanent flood protection wall around the perimeter of the facility.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why is this project needed?
The Compton Drive Wastewater Facility is located along Lake Taneycomo, which is at extreme risk of flood damage. Since 2011, this facility has been threatened by floodwaters during multiple flooding events which have resulted in historic water releases from Table Rock Dam. In 2017, the City invested in a portable temporary flood protection system to extend the height of the facility by approximately five additional feet. However, this is only a temporary solution. For permanent protection of the facility, the City needs to build a flood wall around the perimeter of the facility.
Where is this project occurring?
This project is occurring at the Compton Drive Wastewater Treatment Plant, locatd at 601 Compton Drive.
The Compton Wastewater Treatment Plant is located at 601 Compton Dr., just off of Lake Taneycomo.
How much will it cost?
While a budget for this project has not been set, it is estimated to cost about $15.2 million.
How is this project funded?
This project is expected to be paid for mostly through grants, specifically from Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) and an Economic Development Administration (EDA) Grant. The rest of the project cost will be funded through the City's Tourism Tax.
What does the timeline of the project look like?
This project is in its very early stages. No timelines for ground breaking or completion have been set.
