Cambridge Nineteenth Amendment Centennial Bike Ride
A virtual tour of historic sites from the Suffrage Movement in Cambridge, MA
August 26, 2020 marked the 100-year anniversary of the culmination of the women's suffrage movement and the adoption of the Nineteenth Amendment of the US Constitution, which prohibited the denial of the right to vote on the basis of sex and enfranchised many American women.
To celebrate the centennial of this significant milestone, the Cambridge Bicycle Committee created a Nineteenth Amendment-themed bike ride that highlights sites and suffragists important to the movement in Cambridge and beyond.
While the Committee had hoped to celebrate this ride and anniversary with the Cambridge community, this was not possible due to the COVID-19 outbreak. However, we invite you to experience this ride virtually and out on the streets on your own using the StoryMap tour below. (We also have a printable route map available at cambridgema.gov/bikerides .)
