Chewbacca "Chewy" Montoya

Chewy is my family dog. I care about him very much. Though I now live apart from my family, I try my best to see him as much as I can. He is the light of the life of everyone he meets.

Chewy was born on a farm in Lakeland, Florida in December 2017. His mother was a toy poodle and his father was a cocker spaniel, which makes Chewy a cockapoo. Chewy has three siblings that we know of, all of which are also cockapoos of varying sizes and colors.

Chewy's previous owner was a casual breeder who was looking to get out of the breeding business after the litter Chewy came from. My family was searching for a new dog after the passing of our previous dog, and my mom found Chewy on Craigslist. My parents are particularly huge fans of Craigslist.

We had already gone to see a few puppies, but once we saw the listing of Chewy, we fell in love. On March 4, 2018, we went to go pick Chewy up from the breeder's farm. My brother and myself were busy petting Chewy and his brothers while my parents asked the breeder about Chewy's favorite treats and toys. After a few hours, we left the farm with Chewy riding with my mom in the passenger's seat.

Chewy didn't have a name, so we decided to let my little brother choose the name. My little brother loves Star Wars and Chewy looked like Chewbacca, so "Chewy" it was.

Now, Chewy lives with my family in Apopka. He is a dog who enjoys many hobbies, including:

• Barking at neighbors
• Sitting on the couch and watching TV
• Going on morning walks with my grandmother
• Playing fetch (it is impossible for him to get tired of fetch)
• Smelling for any kind of food one of us is trying to eat in peace
• Sitting next to my dad, no matter where he goes in the house
• Being scared of other dogs

Unfortunately, Chewy does have one character flaw: he receives horrible haircuts.

Chewy hates being brushed. I am the only person he lets groom him without a fight, but I don't come home often enough for my parents to not reach out to professional help. On the occasions he receives a professional haircut, the results are always dramatically pitiful.

As you can likely see, Chewy is the most interesting and lovable dog of all time.
