Emplyability

GIS is a skillset that gets students jobs. It is no longer a skillset reserved for geographers. It is widely used in many sectors. To give you an idea of the scale of GIS use in the UK, Esri UK has over 10,000 customers.

As a society we are drowning in data. We need to make sense of that data and turn it into useful, usable information to make informed decisions. Students should be data literate. Even a basic understanding of GIS through the use of ArcGIS Online could be enough for your students to demonstrate that they understand where data comes from, how it can be used and importantly how to process it into information.
