Happening Now!

  • Th EJWG is supporting commissioned work around environmental justice themes by composer David Lang. Partner: Laura Evans, Director of Programming and Engagement at Stanford Live.
  • The Environmental Justice Film Festival is holding four screenings of EJ films over the course of winter and spring, 2024.

2017

Stanford Roots is founded by students. Stanford Roots promotes community involvement on the campus farm to connect people to their food and food systems, particularly through experimental learning.

Spring 2018

The first Earthtones Festival is held at the Stanford Farm.

July 2020

Students publish the  Earthtones Zine , highlighting student artists and writers of color and their relationships to land and nature.

Fall 2020

Students for the Liberation of All People (SLAP) have put together disorientation guides to educate students and all members of the Stanford community about legacies of injustce and activism in Stanford's history and present. See the 2020 issue   here . See issues from past years   here .

Following the opening of the Doerr School of Sustainability, the Daily publishes op-ed entitled:  Why Stanford's Sustainability School Needs Environmental Justice Art  by Tanvi Dutta Gupta.

April 2023

Art as a tool for environmental justice. Artists Kim Anno and Gao Ling discuss the role of the humanities in environmental justice work during an evening of conversation and community art-making at the Stanford Farm. Read more  here .

Environmental Justice Stories Told Live: a reading and open mic for EJ stories at the Stanford Farm, hosted by the EJWG EJ+Arts group, the Stanford Storytelling Project, the Notation in Cultural Rhetorics, and the Notation in Science Communication.
