FWA
Fixed wireless access (FWA) is a technology that allows for the delivery of high-speed internet to homes and businesses using wireless technology instead of traditional wired connections. In India, where broadband penetration is low and a significant portion of the population lives in rural areas, FWA has the potential to provide a cost-effective and scalable solution for delivering broadband connectivity.
One of the main advantages of FWA is its cost-effectiveness. Unlike wired solutions such as fiber or cable, FWA does not require the laying of physical infrastructure, which can be expensive and time-consuming. Instead, FWA uses existing wireless infrastructure, such as cellular towers, to deliver internet service. This makes it easier and less expensive to roll out FWA in rural areas where the population density is low and the cost of laying physical infrastructure would be high.
Another advantage of FWA is its scalability. As the demand for broadband grows, FWA can be easily scaled up to meet that demand. This is because FWA uses wireless technology, which can easily be upgraded to support higher speeds and more users. In contrast, wired solutions such as fiber can be more difficult to scale because they require the laying of additional physical infrastructure.
FWA also offers flexibility in terms of deployment. Unlike wired solutions, FWA can be deployed in a relatively short period of time and can be easily moved or expanded as needed. This makes it ideal for providing broadband access in areas that are difficult to reach with wired infrastructure, such as remote villages and mountainous regions.
Finally, FWA is a reliable solution for providing broadband access. Wireless technology has advanced significantly in recent years, and FWA now uses 4G and 5G technology, which is capable of delivering high-speed internet with low latency and high reliability.
Overall, FWA is a cost-effective, scalable, flexible and reliable solution for providing broadband access in India. It can play a crucial role in closing the digital divide and connecting rural and remote areas to the internet.
