Death In Black & White

COVID19 is colorblind. American healthcare isn't.

Coronavirus care is unequal. Some disproportionally black counties in Georgia have 20 times more infection than predominantly white ones! What's behind the racial divide in healthcare?

" Health  is far  worse  among lower-income, uninsured, disabled and particular racial and ethnic groups. Life expectancy likewise  differs  across groups. Access to health care, getting loans and healthy foods in ' redlined ' communities is a challenge." -  NYT .

Voter suppression and undercounting in the census denies these communities the resources for better healthcare.

Healthcare, politics and voter suppression.

When voters have no political clout or are prevented from voting the price they pay is in blood.

Voting and taking part in the census can bring about change.

Suppressed: The Fight To Vote

Georgia has a history of voter suppression. "Kemp embarked on a series of attempts to constrict the electorate. His office has purged upwards of 1.4 million voters from the rolls." -  The Atlantic .

"Republicans generally opposed these efforts. “I don’t want everybody to vote,” Paul Weyrich, the conservative activist and co-founder of the Heritage Foundation, said at a meeting in Dallas in 1980. “... our leverage in the elections goes up as the voting populace goes down.” - NY Times
