Each map will contain the South Central District Boundary Layer. This is to present where in the map South Central is located.
Los Angeles Demographics and Poverty Index
I want to start off by first bringing up this map which mainly focuses on South Central of Los Angeles and the population demographics and along with the Poverty Index. I look at the population demographics of three different race: Black, Hispanic, and White. By looking at the legend you can see that Hispanics take up the majority of South Central. Additionally, the only area where it seems Black's are residing in is Southeast of South Central. Living in poverty is really difficult to get through because you will be unable to afford a home to live in. The way to identify what areas are considered to be locations where it seems to have families living in poverty is by looking at the 2013-2017 ACS Poverty Index. This particular attribute shows a statistical report on the poverty index which shows
Educational Attainment
This map contains the educational attainment layer which is to present the different levels of education earned: Bachelor's Degree and high school diploma or no diploma. You can tell by looking in this map that the majority of people who earns a college diploma are not residing in the South Central area. If we take a look at Harvard Park the amount of people earning a high school diploma or less is almost twice as much ratings than those with a college degree. There are people who do end up going to college but only for quite some time and also for those that do end up going to college, half of them at least ends up receiving a Bachelor's Degree.
2018 Hot Spot Complaint & Routine Inspections
You can see how South Central is shown that there has be a significantly high counts. Every single neighborhood is shown to have a high significance in the South Central area along with other areas such as downtown Los Angeles, Hollywood, and Santa Monica. This Hot Spot is looking at different categories such as health care, educational services, Blue and White Collar Jobs, etc. These categories are just to show significance in how many complaints were made during the year.
2019 Hot Spot
Big changes were made during the one year at South Central. Whereas 2018 has shown that all of South Central is shown to have high percentage in hot spots in the area, now it shows only half of South Central appears to show changes. Half of South central seems to show that it still has a hot spot with a high significance while the other half now is shown to have no significance. In other words it is revealed that parts of South Central has implemented changes throughout the year.
Percent Change 2018-2019
This map contains the calculation of percent change within the years of 2018 and 2019. This is to show how many complaints were made in each area and also the changes throughout time. The higher the percent change the more complaints were made in regards in the neighborhood. Many of these complaints were happening in and around of South Central. There are areas like Vernon for example that shows not a single count in complaints.
