Austin Map
Changes I made to my map
- I turned on classify data so that there are distinct ranges for each price of each neighborhood, and not a "blend" of red colors.
- I made the method "natural breaks" I think this filter shows where the highest prices of AirBnB are the best
- I change the boarder color to black so that each neighborhood is easily distinguishable
- I changed the size of the boarder to 1 px to make the boarder pop out more
- I changed how many classes there are from module 9 (3 classes) to 4 classes to get a more in-depth idea of the divides in the city.
- I added an outside of the range option to see if there were any really cheap or really expensive houses.
- I also added a label on the map with the average price of each section to make it easier for the viewer to interpret the data I put the average price of each neighborhood in green
- I added a transparency filter to the middle price range of AirBnB's so that that price range stands out (450-750)
- I added room types as a label so the view can compare price of the neighborhood to room types to see how they correlate (in purple).
- I also off set the room type label so that it was not overlaying the price label.
- I also made the color of the labels complementary colors and ones that would stand out against the map color.
- I added a drop shadow to the map to make it stand out more.
For the A
I made a dot density map (different layer)
- I changed the color of the dots to a contrasting color to the map and other colors I used In the first layer of the map
- I changed the dot transparency to 0% so you can view all aspects of both layers of the map all at once
- I changed the ratio of dots and properties to 1 dot: 5 AirBnB
- I changed the dot size to 2 px so that it was easier to see the dots because when changing the "population" of dot (ratio) it made the dot density less dense.
- Finally I turned off "blend overlapping colors so that the map gave a more crystal clear visual.
