Project Background
The Ada County Highway District (ACHD) will be rehabilitating several streets in your area as part of a locally funded project to improve pavement conditions and upgrade the streets for all users. Work could include:
- Reconstructing streets or removing and replacing pavement to improve roadway conditions.
- Filling in sidewalk gaps to increase connectivity.
- Adding bulb-outs where appropriate to improve safety and comfort.
- Upgrading and/or installing pedestrian ramps to meet modern standards and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
- Upgrading light pole fixtures and adding new streetlights to increase visibility at certain locations
- Possible Stormwater Improvements

Project Purpose

- Improve safety and comfort
Roadway Improvements
Pavement improvements will include either reconstructing the entire roadway or removing and replacing the roadway surface with a process called milling. Both will provide a smoother, longer lasting roadway surface.
Pavement Milling
Pavement milling removes the roadway surface so new pavement can be installed. The milling machines use a large rotating drum to remove and grind the road surface. Once the base is properly prepared, a new asphalt surface is paved.
