Stops: Several (not all) stops feature distinctive markers. They were erected as part of the original trail and offer additional story content. The markers were designed by artists, Paul Johnson and Gail Mason who drew inspiration from the mangrove tree, and from the unique rock patterns seen at Stop 1 on the trail.

Final Notes

Nature Notes

The mangroves at Deception Bay are home to a giant: the Queensland Mud Crab. Growing to an average of 2.5 kilos, they begin life just a millimetre long. Look for big holes in the mud, but do not disturb—a giant crab comes with giant pincers.
