Project Description

The  City of San Fernando  in collaboration with  RJM Design Group  will begin the process of preparing a Conceptual Plan for the Las Palmas Park Revitalization project. The Conceptual Plan will guide the renovations, improvements and additions of the facilities at the Park based on community-wide input. Project Timeline

The Las Palmas Park Revitalization Plan is anticipated to be completed in January 2024. Community outreach will be conducted starting in February through May. Community outreach is currently planned as virtual online surveys, door-to-door surveys, tables at City pop-up events, and in-person community workshops.

Preliminary Conceptual Plan

The conceptual plan shown below was prepared by RJM Design Group as a direct result of the community of San Fernando's feedback from in-person workshops and online surveys. The Conceptual Plan was presented to City Council on September 5th in order to gain approval to commence the next phase of the project which is to develop Construction Documents to be put out for public bidding. City Council has requested that the community be given the opportunity to comment on this Conceptual Plan to provide support to moving the project forward. Community Survey

The Recreation and Community Services Department is conducting a survey to gather ideas for how Las Palmas Park should be revitalized! We invite park patrons, families, and local stakeholders to help us with the planning and design of this project by completing this short survey. January 2023

Background research begins! Our team has started working with the City of San Fernando to collect previous planning materials, establish lines of communication and familiarization with the project.

February 2023

The Las Palmas Park Revitalization Outreach has begun! Look for information at Community Pop-Up Events throughout the City.

March 4, 2023

Mission City Pony Baseball Opening Day Pop-Up Event. Look for our community outreach table hosted by Pacoima Beautiful for more information and to provide your thoughts and ideas for the park revitalization.

March 13-17, 2023

Senior Pop-Up Event at Las Palmas Park. Look for our community outreach team, Pacoima Beautiful for information about the revitalization of the park facilities and to share your thoughts and ideas.

March 29, 2023

You are invited to join us for the 1st Community Meeting to share your feedback on the design elements of the Las Palmas Park Revitalization project. The meeting will be help from 5:30-7:30pm at the Las Palmas Community Center building. Child care will be provided.

April 27, 2023

A 2nd Community Workshop was held to help define the park elements of the Las Palmas Part Revitalization project.

August 31, 2023

The design team has been busy compiling all the community outreach. The final conceptual plan has been developed and will be going to the Council on Tuesday, September 5 th for approval. Following the approval the team will begin work on the construction documentation.

September 5, 2023

The Conceptual Plan was presented to City Council for their review and comment. Council requested that the Conceptual Plan be posted on this project website to allow for public comment on the proposed plan. Please use the Community Voice Feedback button above to provide comment and support for the plan. City Council will review community feedback and approval of the Conceptual Plan will be placed on the September 18th City Council agenda.
