Job Growth
Tooele County-based jobs have grown from 16,000 in mid-2020 to nearly 19,700 in December of 2023. This represents a new peak and rise in stable employment in Tooele County. The upward trend began in 2015 (at a low of 14,500 jobs) and accelerated in 2020. In 2023 job numbers remained flat, showing little or no growth.
As of December 2023, Tooele County had an unemployment rate of 3.0%.
For many years, Tooele has served as a bedroom community to Salt Lake City. We continue to have a workforce which relys on jobs in Salt Lake.
This presents an opportunity for employers to tap into a workforce that would prefer to reduce their commute and work locally.
2021 Census data shows that each workday over 29,000 Tooele County residents leave the county for employment.
