Miami-Dade County, the largest County in the state of Florida based on population size, is a popular filming location for its diversity of landscapes and infrastructure, beautiful natural light and talented crew base. Miami-Dade County has 34 municipalities plus the unincorporated areas that have served as a backdrop to some of the best known feature films and television series.

Pulse Season 1
This Netflix series follows the personal and professional lives of doctors and staff at a busy Miami trauma center. Many of the outdoor scenes were filmed in Miami-Dade County with the interior hospital scenes filmed in a studio in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Some of the major helicopter scenes filmed feature Miami-Dade Fire Rescue. HCA Aventura Hospital was featured as the establishing shot of an air rescue helicopter arriving at the rooftop helipad.
Dexter: Original Sin
As a prequel to the television series Dexter (2006-2013), a young Dexter Morgan begins his internship as a forensic technician for the Miami Metro Police Department while transitioning into an avenging serial killer. When his bloodthirsty urges can no longer be ignored, Dexter must control his inner darkness. With the help from his foster father Harry, he adopts the Code designed to help him find and kill other serial killers while staying under the radar of law enforcement. Driving shots were filmed on Collins Avenue from 42nd street to 54th street featuring 10 picture cars around camera car.
Bad Boys: Ride or Die
One of Miami’s biggest global movie franchises, Bad Boys4 returns! Filmed in 2024 in various locations throughout Miami-Dade County, the latest installment of the Bad Boys series has Miami's finest now on the run. When their late police captain gets linked to drug cartels, wisecracking Miami cops Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett embark on a dangerous mission to clear his name. One of the major scenes in the movie was filmed at the SW 2nd Avenue Bridge in downtown Miami and Crandon Park Beach.
Bad Monkey
This television series from Apple TV follows a detective turned restaurant inspector in Key West is pulled into a world of greed and corruption after a tourist finds a severed arm while fishing. And yes, there's a monkey. The series is based on the novel of the same name from Carl Hiaasen and filmed in various location around Miami-Dade County in 2022. The Lehman Theater at Miami Dade College North Campus was one of the locations used for some scenes.
Do Revenge
Filmed in Miami-Dade and Atlanta, Do Revenge launched on Netflix in Sept 2022. It is a dark comedy starring Stranger Thing’s Maya Hawke, and Riverdale’s Camila Mendes who agree to go after one another's bullies. The plot was inspired by Alfred Hitchcock's Strangers on a Train and many of our beautiful Miami-Dade County locations are showcased. Some scenes were filmed in the City of South Miami that is featured on the map.
Father of the Bride
Filmed in 2022, this adaptation of the 1991 original is about a father's coming to grips with his daughter's upcoming wedding through the prism of multiple relationships within a big, sprawling Cuban American clan. The film features Gloria Estefan and Andy Garcia and was shot at multiple locations around Miami-Dade County. Instead of being released in the cinemas, this film was released via HBO Max.
Rap Sh!t
This HBO Max television series is about a female rap group from outside of Miami trying to make it in the music industry. Season 1 was filmed exclusively in Miami-Dade County in 2021 at various locations, and was written and produced by Issa Rae. The series utilized many locations throughout Miami-Dade County including the City of Opa Locka at Money Tree Pawn as shown on the map.
Love Map
A journalist on the verge of launching a dating app is tasked with writing a map of the most romantic places in Florida. The only problem is that she has to team up with a tour guide whose tastes are diametrically opposed to hers. The film shot in 2021 at multiple locations throughout Miami-Dade County including Redland Grocery also known as Pioneer Guild Hall. Pioneer Guild Hall is the last remaining building found at this important historic crossroad of Redland Road and Bauer Drive, SW 264th Street. A historic marker on the corner tells a brief history of the structure.
Reminiscence
Filmed in early 2020 starring Hugh Jackman and Rebecca Ferguson, this future-set film plays out in a flooded, crumbling Miami that offers plenty of striking locations. The movie is about a private investigator of the mind navigating the alluring world of the past by helping his clients access lost memories. Miami-Dade County Transit played a key role in this film and many scenes featured Metromover and Metrorail stations as well as Hugh Jackman riding the Metromover in various Brickell Loop Metromover Stations including First Street, Brickell, Government Center and Financial District Stations. Other Miami-Dade locations include the old bridge at Port of Miami, the Star Island Bridge and Ocean Drive between 5th and 15th streets on Miami Beach.
La Suerte de Loli
La Suerte de Loli tells the story of Loli Aguilar (Silvia Navarro), an independent woman, executive producer of Radio Global Group, the number one radio station on the west coast of the United States, and who has never considered the possibility to be a mother. Crandon Park Tennis Center was used to film conversation scenes inside the stadium and parking lot. Other locations used include Matheson Hammock Park, Opa-locka West Airport, Greynolds Park, Tropical Park, Port of Miami Terminal D and the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Headquarters.
Plantados
The film narrates the most horrible tortures that political prisoners "Planted" received from the Castro regime. The film narrates the most horrible torture that these men preferred to suffer before negotiating with the Castro regime. Plantados is directed by the well-known director Lilo Vilaplana, the feature film has two story lines; a current one in Miami where an elderly political prisoner lives who discovers a henchman who tortures him in prison; and he begins from that perspective to see all the abuses that were committed in those prisons. One of the main locations used was JAV Constructions at 10300 NW 142 Hialeah, FL 33018. This rock quarry served as a military scene with weapons, special effects and guards in uniforms. Other parts of the movie were shot in the City of Doral at an empty automotive repair shop and retail outlet.
Mi Familia Perfecta
This television series is about five siblings living in modern day Houston, learning to survive after their father dies and their mother is deported back to Mexico. All the while surviving in the shadow of the American dream and harsh realities of the city. One of the scenes was filmed at the Bentley Hotel on South Beach’s Ocean Drive. Other locations that were used include Milander Park in Hialeah, the Metro Flagler Building, Doral Inn & Suites, Tamiami Park and the Dade County Courthouse.
Armas de Mujer
This television series filmed in 2021 follows four women suffering their worst nightmare after the police arrest their husbands for being linked to the same criminal organization. The series was produced by Telemundo Studios and distributed by Peacock. Many locations were used for filming throughout Miami-Dade County, but one of the unique locations used is the Nixon Beach Sandbar. This Key Biscayne sandbar is one of South Florida’s many treasures is a local gathering of yachts, boats, charter yachts and rental boats. The sandbar is also known as Nixon’s Sandbar since it is just south of Nixon’s Cove, named after our former President Richard Nixon’s South Florida home. The location was used for a scene where a human body appears on the sandbar and an actor on a boat discovers the body.
La Voz S2
The US will now feature a Spanish-language version of its hit show The Voice. La Voz features superstar musicians coaching competitors in a vocal competition. The primary filming location was at Cisneros Studios 7321 NW 75th St., Medley.
Bad Boys for Life
The wife and son of a Mexican drug lord embark on a vengeful quest to kill all those involved in his trial and imprisonment -- including Miami Detective Mike Lowrey. The new port bridge at Port of Miami was the location for the high speed chase with hearo car and 50 precision drivers on closed westbound lanes.

Once the world's most famous astrologer, Walter Mercado seeks to resurrect a forgotten legacy. Raised in the sugar cane fields of Puerto Rico, Walter grew up to become a gender non-conforming, cape-wearing psychic whose televised horoscopes reached 120 million Latinx viewers a day for 30 years.
The Last Thing He Wanted
A veteran D.C. journalist loses the thread of her own narrative when a guilt-propelled errand for her father thrusts her from byline to unwitting subject in the very story she's trying to break. The scenes covering the presidential elections were shot outside at the Dade County Courthouse.
Critical Thinking
This movie directed by John Leguizamo, is based on a true story of the 1998 Miami Jackson Senior High School chess team that defied the odds and overcame incredible adversity to become the first urban high school to win the U.S. Chess National Championship. This location at Miami-Dade County's Downtown Motorpool was used to film scenes depicting a high school carwash fundraiser.
The Baker and the Beauty
This movie is about a blue-collar baker who strikes up a relationship with an international superstar. Some of the scenes were shot at the Crandon Park Marina located in Key Biscayne.
100 Dias Para Enamorarse
This television series is a comedy drama based on an adaptation of the Argentine telenovela titled 100 Días Para Enamorarse. Car racing scenes and stunt car accident was filmed at this location. This location is popular for film scenes that involve car racing because it has a runway.
Reefa
This movie is about Israel "Reefa" Hernandez Jr., an 18-year-old Colombian immigrant and talented artist that while spending his last summer in Miami with friends has a fatal encounter with police. Many scenes were filmed on Ocean Terrace between 73rd and 75th streets on Miami Beach.
Definition of Insanity
The Miami-Dade Community Mental Health Project comes to life in this documentary, following a team of dedicated public servants working through the courts to steer people with mental illness on a path from incarceration to recovery.
Waves
Traces the journey of a suburban family led by a well-intentioned but domineering father as they navigate love, forgiveness, and coming together in the aftermath of a loss. The party on the beach scene with a bonfire was filmed at Rickenbacker Causeway Beach.
The Laundromat
In this film, a widow investigates an insurance fraud, chasing leads to a pair of Panama City law partners exploiting the world's financial system. Scenes from the movie utilized Miami International Airport as well as Crandon Park Beach.
Decisiones
Decisiones is a television series that its settings and characters are inspired by real-life cases. The episodes are about what can happen to people based on their actions, and is presented with high-quality production values and an internationally renowned cast. Camp Owaissa Bauer was used as a film location for one of the episodes.

When Eva and Ruben travel back in time to 1957, they try to go unnoticed until they find a way to return. Their plans change after Eva falls in love with Italian heartthrob JJ, and their actions start to drastically alter the future. Some of the scenes were filmed in the Village of El Portal on private property as well as on NE 89th Street.

After being presumed dead, passengers onboard Flight 828 return and discover the world has aged five years. As they reintegrate into society, they begin to experience guiding voices and visions, and soon a deeper mystery unfolds. Some of the scenes were shot at Crandon Park Beach where grass sun huts, beach lounge chairs, and sandcastles were placed on beach.

Investigation 13
A group of science students have discovered how to scientifically explain the paranormal. The movie was shot almost entirely at the formerly closed Miami-Dade County facility at 2200 NW 7 Avenue. The site is a former psychiatric hospital that has been transformed into a facility that will treat residents with mental illness who are diverted from the criminal justice system into treatment.

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel - Season 3
The series follows the trajectory of Midge's journey as she pursues a career in the male-dominated, stand-up comedy profession, and transforms from uptown society matron to East Village club performer in 1950's Manhattan. Season 3 includes a few episodes that were shot in Miami. Film locations include the Faena Hotel and Theater on Miami Beach as well as the Fontainebleau Hotel and Eden Rock Hotel also on Miami Beach. Other film locations are Crandon Park's South Beach and the neighborhood of Normandy Island.
Magic City Hustle
Magic City Hustle follows former University of Miami athletes hoping for a second chance at glory as they take on the world’s fastest sport. Set against the challenging hustle economy of Miami where working multiple jobs is required to stay economically afloat, the only Americans in the game face the longest of odds learning to play a sport totally foreign to them. Director Billy Corben, with credits including “The U,” “Broke” and “Screwball,” chronicles the lives of these former outstanding college athletes fighting for hundreds of thousands of dollars in prize money. The ups, downs and almost outs reveal themselves as they prepare for and compete in this inaugural season.
Superpower Dogs
This film chronicles nearly three years from 2016 to 2018 that Miami-Dade's Captain "Cat" Labrada spent preparing her dog Halo to be certified as a search and rescue dog. Labrada is the training coordinator for the task force, and though Halo has not yet been deployed to a disaster, the film aims to chronicle the hard work and training that go into preparing dogs for this task. Capt. Labrada is with the Miami-Dade County Fire Rescue Department and Halo is now a member of the Florida Task Force 1, one of the most elite search and rescue teams in America.
Vandal
Filmed in Miami in 2017, the movie follows a young leader of a legendary Miami graffiti crew who comes of age while battling a longtime rival. The movie was filmed using real and established Miami graffiti writers. The scene at this location are graffiti artists painting Metrorail trains who get caught them make their escape.
I Am Frankie
Filmed in 2017, this Nickelodeon television series filmed entirely in Miami. Frankie Gaines looks like a typical teenager, but she has a very big secret she's actually a cutting edge, experimental android! She must hide her true identity to avoid being tracked down by the evil tech company EGG Labs. I am Frankie was the first television series to receive the Miami-Dade County TV, Film and Entertainment Production Incentive and used many locations throughout Miami-Dade including the Shenandoah Branch Library, Palmetto Golf Course, Goulds Park, Miami-Dade County Auditorium and EUE Screen Gems Studio.
Belleville Cop
When a childhood friend from Miami gets killed after he comes to warn of encroaching drug gangs, Baaba moves to Miami and teams up with a local officer to bring down the criminals. Filming in Miami-Dade County took place in 2017 and used many iconic locations including the Venetian Causeway, the MacArthur Causeway, Miami International Airport, JFK Causeway, Rickenbacker Causeway, Miami-Dade County Transit (Miami Riverwalk Station’s “Boat Dock” Platform, Metromover Downtown at Miami Avenue Station and riding the Metrorail), Lincoln Road and other locations in Miami Beach, and the Lincoln Road Parking Garage LAZ Parking, (1111 Lincoln Rd) which is shown in this film clip. The movie was released in France in 2018 and released in other European countries in 2019.
The Last Resort
This historical documentary was produced by two local Miamians: Dennis Scholl and Kareem Tabsch. The documentary is an uncannily revealing portrait of American photographers Andy Sweet and Gary Monroe and the vibrant community of Jewish retirees they obsessively focused their camera's lens on in the sunburned paradise of 1970s Miami Beach.
Warriors of Liberty City
Shot in various location throughout Miami-Dade, this Starz TV documentary series follows a youth football program called the Liberty City Warriors, known for creating top recruits for the NFL. Liberty City alumni who have played in the NFL include Devonta Freeman, Antonio Brown, Duke Johnson and Teddy Bridgewater.
Huracán
Filmed in 2017 and released in 2019, this film is about an aspiring mixed martial arts fighter from Miami who struggles to make it into the professional MMA circuit as he battles with Multiple Personality Disorder. Many of the scenes were filmed at the Metro Flagler Building as well as various Metrorail train stations.
Miami Love Affair
Miami Love Affair is a romantic comedy where love ignites on the biggest art fair in the world as artists struggle between fame and romance in the hottest city on the planet: Miami. It was one of the last movies starring Burt Reynolds who plays a wise art dealer. One of the locations used in the movie is The Art Place Wynwood, and is an active art gallery whose mission is to preserve the essence of the Wynwood artist community. Other film locations for the movie include R House and the Ballamar Hotel on Miami Beach.
Tycoon
Tycoon is a television series that takes place in Miami. A young woman Natalie Boyle gets a strange offer from young real estate mogul Leroy Blake: if she surrenders all of her decisions to him for one year, she will get $5 million. Dissatisfied with her current life, she accepts, not realizing what the choice will cost her. The series filmed in Miami in 2016 on Miami-Dade Transit Metrorail's Brickell Station, Pelican Harbor Marina, Opa-locka Airport, Cultural Center Plaza, Metro Flagler Building, and Miami International Airport.
Duels
Duels is a television series about Malcolm, an American student, that challenges a Comrade to a real duel. The video become so popular online that people organized duels to settle a score with their enemies. In this outburst of violence, will Malcolm escape to this vicious circle? Duels was shot exclusively in Miami. One of the main scenes was shot at the former RC Cola factory turned spartan, industrial events space with elaborate graffiti art.
The Irishman
The Irishman is a movie about a mob hitman recalling his possible involvement with the slaying of Jimmy Hoffa. Directed by Martin Scorsese, the film stars Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Joe Pesci and Harvey Keitel. Most of the movie was filmed in New York, however there are scenes that were shot in Miami. One of these locations was the Deauville Beach Resort on Miami Beach. The Deauville has a rich history and has been the favorite of many movies and television series such as Magic City, Burn Notice, Pain and Gain, Confessions of a Shopaholic and Pablo Escobar Novela. The hotel was designed in 1957 by Architect Melvin Grossman and has hosted many memorable events including the Beatles' performance on the Ed Sullivan Show in February of 1964. The “Rolling Parties” in the Napoleon Ballroom hosted artists such as Frank Sinatra, Judy Garland, Louis Armstrong and Tony Bennett.
The Beach Bum
The Beach Bum, filmed in 2017, features Matthew McConaughey as a rebellious stoner named Moondog who lives life by his own rules. One memorable scene from the movie was shot at the Crandon Park Marina where spectators viewed a fireworks show while a boat was burning on the water with a baby kitten. Crandon Marina is a first class marina with a dive boat operation and is near spectacular fishing and artificial reefs. Visit the bait & tackle shop onsite, charter a fishing boat, rent a commercial slip, or dock up your sailboat or just come for a stroll and to see the sunset.
White Boy Rick
Filmed in 2017, the movie is the story of teenager Richard Wershe Jr., who became an undercover informant for the FBI during the 1980s and was ultimately arrested for drug trafficking and sentenced to life in prison. In one scene of the movie, cars arrive at Haulover Beach Marina and the actors get out of the car and onto a yacht. Most of the filming of this scene takes place on the water. They also filmed at Haulover Beach Park for another scene. Nestled in Haulover Beach Park between the Atlantic Ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway, this marina is minutes away from spectacular fishing. It is home to the largest charter/drift fishing fleet in South Florida.
American Crime Story - The Assassination of Gianni Versace
American Crime Story is a TV series centered on America’s most notorious cries and criminals. The series has won two Golden Globes, and in 2016 filming of “The Assassination of Gianni Versace” took place on Miami Beach’s Villa Casa Casuarina – the former mansion of fashion designer Gianni Versace. The Villa was originally built in 1930 by the architect, author, and philanthropist, Alden Freeman. Mr. Freeman was the heir to the Standard Oil fortune. In 1992, The Villa was purchased by the famous Italian fashion designer, Gianni Versace. Today The Villa has operated as a luxury boutique hotel, restaurant and event space.
Claws Season
Claws is a television series that looks at the life and crimes of five women who work at a Florida nail salon. Season 2 filmed in 2017 and used the Deering Bay Yacht & Country Club for some of the episodes. This property features an 18 hole golf course, HarTru clay tennis courts, fitness center, aerobics studio, a junior Olympic pool and fine dining all overlooking the beautiful Biscayne Bay Aquatic Preserve .
Father Figure
Upon learning that their mother has been lying to them for years about their allegedly deceased father, two fraternal twin brothers hit the road in order to find him. Filmed in 2016, this comedy featuring Owen Wilson and Ed Helms, filmed driving shots along the Rickenbacker Causeway and also filmed a major scene featuring Terry Bradshaw at the Tropical Chevrolet in Miami Shores.
A Change of Heart
Jim Belushi is Hank, a frustrated man who is fearful of diversity, but his Central Florida town is adhering less and less to the white, straight profile with which he’s comfortable. But after suffering a heart attack, Hank’s life is saved by a transplant from a Puerto Rican drag queen. Soon, he is taking new steps in a new direction. Filmed in 2014, one of the most memorable scenes takes place at the Dade County Courthouse. The Dade County Courthouse was completed in 1928 and is on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. The building has 28 floors and was Miami's first high-rise buildings. The movie was the last to film on the historic courthouse steps before major restoration to its exterior began in 2014. A Change of Heart made its world premiere at the Miami Film Festival on March 11th, 2017 and was produced by Emilio Estefan Jr. and directed by Kenny Ortega.
Moonlight
A timeless story of human connection and self-discovery, Moonlight chronicles the life of a young black man from childhood to adulthood as he struggles to find his place in the world while growing up in a rough neighborhood of Miami. The film's writer and director, Barry Jenkins, is a Miami native that grew up in Liberty City and some of the scenes from the movie were filmed there. Jenkins is a Florida State Film School graduate whose family still lives in Miami. The filming began in October 2015 and was had its world premiere at the Telluride Film Festival in Sept 2016. It was featured at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2016 and was nominated for the Platform Prize. It was also nominated Best Film at the London Film Festival. Moonlight won Best Picture at the Academy Awards ceremony on February 26, 2017.

Ballers Television Series
A series centered around a group of football players and their families, friends, and handlers. Features Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and filming in various locations around Miami-Dade County including the Stephen P. Clark Government Center. Also known as Government Center, it is the headquarters of Miami-Dade County government. Completed in 1985, it is named after the former Mayor of Miami-Dade County and Mayor of Miami, Stephen P. Clark. The Glades television series also filmed scenes here along with many commercials and still shoots.
War Dogs (aka Arms and the Dudes)
The true story of two young men, David Packouz and Efraim Diveroli, who won a $300 million contract from the Pentagon to arm America's allies in Afghanistan. Filmed in 2015, parts of the movie were filmed at the Port Miami Tunnel that consists of two parallel tunnels that travel beneath Biscayne Bay, connecting the MacArthur Causeway on Watson Island with Port Miami on Dodge Island.
Ricki and the Flash
Ricki and the Flash is a movie about a musician, played by Meryl Streep, who gave up everything for her dream of rock-and-roll stardom and returns home, looking to make things right with her family. Most of the movie was filmed in New York, but a few scenes were shot in a Miami Beach condo in 2015.
Ride Along
As his wedding day approaches, Ben heads to Miami with his soon-to-be brother-in-law James to bring down a drug dealer who's supplying the dealers of Atlanta with product. Filmed at Port Miami in 2015 along with other locations that included the MacArthur Causeway and Matheson Hammock Park. Dueños del Paraiso is a story inspired by real-life events during the height of the 1980s drug trade era in Miami. The widow of a well-known Mexican drug lord who has become psychologically disturbed by the violence that has surrounded her partners up with two local cocaine traffickers to take over the cartel and becomes the most powerful woman of her time. Filmed in 2014 at many different places in Miami-Dade County, one of the locations was Mokai Lounge on Miami Beach.
S.O.S.: Mulheres ao Miami
A Brazilian woman's comedy inside a cruise. Filmed in 2014, one of the scenes was filmed at Port Miami Cruise Terminal. Port Miami, the Cruise Capital of the World, continues to expand as the world's leading cruise port.

Trapped inside an abandoned building, a group of friends must fight for their lives from a disturbed ax-wielding maniac. The movie was primarily shot at Miami-Dade County GSA Shop on the Miami River. The abandoned building used in the film had very few hallways, and the production designer had to create fake hallways where the characters could run and be hunted. Most of the props used in the film were actually left behind in the abandoned building where the film was shot. The building was demolished since the film was released in 2013.
Magic City Memoirs
In Miami, three lifelong friends, months away from high school graduation indulge in reckless behavior that finds them on the brink of either their graduation or their mortality. Filmed in 2011, the North Dade Detention Center was one of the locations included in the movie. Dónde está Elisa is a story about a family that changed forever with the disappearance of their oldest daughter. Once she disappears, we begin to learn the secrets of every member of the family and friends and the consequences of hypocrisy. Filmed in multiple locations around Miami-Dade County in 2010, one of the locations is the Miami Cemetery. The City of Miami Cemetery is Miami's oldest cemetery and is the first and only municipal cemetery in Miami-Dade County. The 10 acre land was sold to the City in 1897 by William and Mary Brickell. The cemetery is the resting ground for members of important pioneer families in the City and is therefore a unique reminder of Miami's early days. Some of the pioneers interred here have no remaining buildings associated with their lives. As a result, the intricately carved headstones and classical mausoleums embellish the only site associated with many of these individuals. The cemetery itself is the site which most vividly reflects the pioneer era of the City's development and is the only known five limestone gravestones worldwide. It was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 1989.

The Temple House was originally constructed as a two-story single family residence in 1933 with the first stone laid by world renowned architect L. Murray Dixon. The Temple House building was rezoned, thus becoming the largest single-family residence in South Beach. Dixon completed this spectacular two-year renovation in January 2005.

Mercenary Frank Martin, who specializes moving goods of all kinds, surfaces again this time in Miami, when he's implicated in the kidnapping of the young son of a powerful USA official. Filmed in 2005 in many places around Miami-Dade County including Miami Marine Stadium. The Miami Marine Stadium is a marine stadium on Virginia Key, Miami. The facility, built and completed in 1963 on land donated to the City of Miami from the Matheson family, is the first stadium purpose built for powerboat racing in the United States. Filmed in 2003 in various Miami-Dade County locations including Black Point Park & Marina which is the largest public marina in Miami and part of the Miami-Dade Parks, and Recreation and Open Spaces Department. The marina is also very close to Biscayne National Park. Black Point is a starting point for fishing and diving expeditions, especially among locals. The park consists of large picnic pavilions, grills, bikeways, jogging trails and a jetty, which extends 1.5 miles into Biscayne Bay.

Two loosecannon narcotics cops investigate the flow of ecstasy into Florida. Filmed in 2003 in various places around Miami-Dade County including Villa Vizcaya. Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, which features an Italian Renaissance-style villa and formal gardens built in 1916 as the winter residence of industrialist James Deering. Most of the scenes were filmed at Joe Robbie Stadium, now called Hard Rock Stadium. It is the home stadium of the Miami Dolphins of the National Football League (NFL), and the Miami Hurricanes football team of the University of Miami. Blood & Wine
The movie is about a man who has failed as a father and husband commits a heist to make money for his fledging business, but things become complicated when his wife interferes. The movie, filmed in 1995 starring Jack Nicholson, Michael Caine and Stephen Dorff, used Virginia Key Beach as one of the film locations. The Historic Virginia Key Beach Park is a milelong beach near downtown with wetlands, a boardwalk, hiking trails, picnic areas and concessions. Its history began in 1896 when the City of Miami was founded and segregation became a daily reality throughout the south. It was this reality that systematically excluded all people of color from then-Dade County's beaches.
Fair Game
Max Kirkpatrick is a cop who protects Kate McQuean, a civil law attorney, from a renegade KGB team out to terminate her. Filmed in 1995 starring Cindy Crawford and William Baldwin, this location was used for the car explosion scene by the railroad tracks.
Bad Boys
Two hip detectives protect a murder witness while investigating a case of stolen heroin. Filmed in 1995 starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, some of the scenes were shot at the Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables. This palatial resort built in the 1920s is a National Historic Landmark that features a full service spa, an 18 hole golf course, a lighted tennis center, a 10,000 square foot fitness center and a 21,000 square foot outdoor pool.
The Specialist
A woman entices a bomb expert she's involved with into destroying the mafia that killed her family. Filmed in 1994 starring Sylvester Stallone, Sharon Stone and James Woods, the movie used various locations in Miami-Dade including the Hindu Temple. The Hindu Temple was built in 1920 and is one of Miami's most unusual houses. An elaborate temple was among the temporary sets built for The Jungle Trial, believed to be the first motion picture shot in Miami. The temple captured the imagination of prominent local merchant John Seybold, who decided to build a permanent version of the building as his home. August C. Geiger created the design with its domed octagonal towers and finely detailed windows. The house was built on the site of the original movie set after filming ended in 1919. The Hindu Temple was designated as a historic site by the City of Miami in 1991.
Drop Zone
A tough cop teams up with a professional skydiver to capture a renegade computer hacker on the run from the law. Filmed in 1994 starring Wesley Snipes and Gary Busey, one of the scenes was filmed at the Miami Tower. The Miami Tower is a 47-story landmark office skyscraper in Miami. Built for CenTrust Savings and Loan in 1987, The Miami Tower is known for its elaborate nighttime illuminations and its dramatic three glass tiers. The roof of the building was the set of Gloria Estefan's 1994 video for "Turn The Beat Around." The building is also one of many featured on the backdrop of the stage on The Tonight Show.
Ace Ventura Pet Detective
A goofy detective specializing in animals goes in search of a missing dolphin mascot of a football team. Filmed in 1994 starring Jim Carrey, scenes from the movie were filmed at various locations in Miami-Dade County including the Campton Apartments. This building was the home of Ace Ventura (Jim Carrey) in the movie.
The Bodyguard
A former Secret Service agent takes on the job of bodyguard to a pop singer, whose lifestyle is most unlike a president's. Filmed in 1992 starring Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner, one of the locations was the Fontainebleau Resort Hotel. The scene from the movie used the Fontainebleau for the AIDS charity benefit concert. This luxe property was designed in the 1950s by architect Morris Lapidus and offers modern accommodations in four buildings ranging from chic guestrooms to two bedroom suites and lavish penthouses. The swimming pool is shown in the 1959 film A Hole in the Head and the hotel was the setting for Jerry Lewis's 1960 comedy film, The Bellboy. The hotel was featured in the 1964 James Bond film Goldfinger, and Frank Sinatra and Elvis Presley performed here. The movies Tony Rome, Scarface, Police Academy 5, The Specialist, Miami Vice, Pain and Gain and Chef also filmed here.

Miami Blues
This film features Alec Baldwin and Jennifer Jason Leigh and about an ex-con's first act of freedom is moving to Miami where he restarts his old criminal ways with even more potency. He soon meets up with amiable college student/prostitute Susie Waggoner. Opposing Frenger is Sgt. Hoke Moseley, a cop who is getting a bit old for the job, especially since the job of cop in 1980's Miami is getting crazier all the time. The entire movie was shot on location in multiple locations in Miami-Dade County. The location featured here is a driving shot on the Venetian Causeway with the city skyline in the distance. The movie started filming in 1988 and was released in April 1990.
Let it Ride
Filmed in 1989, Richard Dreyfuss plays a nosy cab driver who gets a hot tip on a race horse and wins big. The problem is, he can't seem to stop gambling! The historic Hialeah Park covers 40 square blocks an is on the U.S. Nation Register of Historic Places. The racetrack opened in 1922 for greyhound racing and launched horse racing in 1925.
Police Academy 5
The old Commandant Lassard, leader of the Police Academy (1984), goes to Florida to receive an award. Filmed in 1988, one of the locations used was Parrot Jungle now called Jungle Island. Jungle Island is an interactive zoological park in Watson Island (Miami) that is home to nearly 3,000 animal, bird and plant species and has a petting zoo and trails. This location was the original site of Parrot Jungle (Pinecrest Gardens), but the animals have since moved to the location on Watson Island.
Making Mr. Right
A reclusive scientist builds a robot which looks exactly like Dr. Ulysses, a scientist set to go on a long-term space mission. Since the (real) scientist seems to lack all emotions, he is unable to program his (lack of) emotion into his automaton, and an eccentric woman is hired to "educate" the robot on human behavior. In the end, she falls in love but is it the robot or Mr. Right? Filmed in 1987, the mall scenes were filmed at the 163rd Street Mall in North Miami Beach. The mall was built in 1956 as both an open-air shopping as well as an enclosed mall, but has deteriored over the years and now only has a handful of big box retail stores.
The Mean Season
Malcolm Anderson is a reporter for a Miami newspaper. He's had enough of reporting the local murders and promises his school teacher girlfriend they'll move away soon. Before Malcolm can hand in his notice, the murderer from his latest article phones him. Filmed in 1985 starring Kurt Russell and Mariel Hemingway, some of the scenes from the movie were shot at Everglades National Park, the largest subtropical wilderness in the United States. Its unparalleled landscape provides important habitat for numerous rare and endangered species like the manatee, American crocodile and the elusive Florida panther.
Miami Vice (television series 1984-1990)
Resplendent with authentic 1980's music, fashion and vibe, "Miami Vice" follows two undercover detectives and their extended team through the mean streets of Miami. The television series filmed all over Miami-Dade County from 1984 -1990 and includes the Bayside Marina for many of the iconic scenes. Miamarina at Bayside is located in Downtown Miami on the Intracoastal Waterway in the middle of Miami. It’s a small deepwater slip marina in the Bayside Marketplace a city center of stores and restaurants alongside FTX Arena.
Band of the Hand
Five juvenile lost causes are sent to the Everglades where a war veteran tries to reform them using survival tactics. Their new skills and resolve are tested when a Miami drug lord targets them for trying to clean up their neighborhood. The Everglades is an expansive area of land in South Florida, which consists of 1.5 million acres of wetland. Among the Everglades' abundant wildlife are the endangered leatherback turtle, Florida panther and West Indian manatee.
Cease Fire
Tim Murphy is a Vietnam vet. When he loses his job he starts to relive all the pain and horror of his time in Vietnam. The stresses and strains nearly destroy his marriage and his family. Only after joining a veterans' therapy group does Tim find relief from his nightmares. With the support of his fellow vets and the love of his wife, Tim recovers. The Dade County Nursery, also called The Plant, is managed by Miami-Dade County Natural Areas Management Division (NAM) which is responsible for the restoration and management of 98 nature preserves totaling more than 26,000 acres of land.
Scarface
In Miami in 1980, a determined Cuban immigrant takes over a drug cartel and succumbs to greed. Filmed in 1982 starring Al Pacino and Michelle Pfeiffer, one of the scenes from the movie was shot at 728 Ocean Drive that is now a CVS store. This art deco building was the location of the famous chainsaw scene and was the former home of Irene Marie Models. Other scenes from the movie include Fontainebleau Hotel and Oleta River State Park.
Porky's
In 1954, a group of Florida high schoolers seek out to help their buddy lose his virginity, which leads them to seek revenge on a sleazy nightclub owner and his redneck sheriff brother for harassing them. Filmed in 1981, the gym scenes were filmed at Miami Senior High School. Miami Senior High School is a public high school operated by Miami-Dade County Public Schools. Founded in 1903, it is the oldest high school in Miami-Dade County. The school building is famous for its architecture and is a historic landmark.
Absence of Malice
When a prosecutor leaks a false story that a liquor warehouse owner is involved in the murder of an union head, the man's life begins to unravel. Filmed in 1981 starring Paul Newman and Sally Field, some of the scenes were filmed at Matheson Hammock Park. Matheson Hammock Park is 63 acres owned and managed by Miami-Dade County This scenic park features a manmade atoll pool, which is flushed naturally with the tidal action of adjacent Biscayne Bay. The park operates a snack bar and restaurant built into an historic coral stone building, picnic pavilions and nature trails. The movies Random Hearts, A Sensible Obsession, Dexter, Burn Notice, Ballers and Ride Along 2 have all filmed here.

Firepower
Filmed in 1979, Firepower is about a mercenary hired by the FBI to track down a powerful recluse criminal. A woman is also trying to track him down for her own personal vendetta. The movie features Sophia Loren, James Coburn and O.J. Simpson. The last dramatic scenes of the movie were filmed on location in Miami at the Miami Seaplane Base on Watson Island and at Miami International Airport. Miami Seaplane Base is a public use seaplane base located two miles east of the central business district of Miami on Watson Island. The base was established by Chalks Airlines in 1926.
The Champ
Billy Flynn, a former boxing champion, is now a horse trainer in Hialeah. He makes just enough money to raise his little boy T.J., over whom he got custody after his wife Annie left him seven years ago. Filmed in 1979, some of the scenes were filmed at Hialeah Park. The historic racetrack covers 40 square blocks and is on the U.S. Nation Register of Historic Places. The racetrack opened in 1922 for greyhound racing and launched horse racing in 1925. Other movies that have filmed there include Let It Ride (1987) and The Godfather 2 (1974).
Black Sunday
Black Sunday is the powerful story of a Black September terrorist group attempting to blow up a Goodyear blimp hovering over a stadium hosting the Super Bowl with 80,000 people and the president of the United States in attendance. Filmed in 1977 at the Orange Bowl in Miami. The Miami Orange Bowl was an outdoor athletic stadium built in 1937 and was the former home of the Miami Hurricanes college football team and hosted the Miami Dolphins for their first 21 seasons. The Orange Bowl was demolished in 2008 and the site is now occupied by loanDepot Park, the home of the Miami Marlins of Major League Baseball. The movies Any Given Sunday (1999) and Ace Ventura: Pet Detective (1994) were also filmed there as did scenes from the Miami Vice television series.
Lenny
The story of acerbic 1960s comic Lenny Bruce, whose groundbreaking, no-holds-barred style and social commentary was often deemed by the Establishment as too obscene for the public. Filmed in 1974 starring Dustin Hoffman, the nightclub scenes in a banquet hall were filmed at the Barcelona Resort (now called Four Points by Sheraton).
Godfather Part II
The early life and career of Vito Corleone in 1920s New York is portrayed while his son, Michael, expands and tightens his grip on his crime syndicate stretching from Lake Tahoe, Nevada to pre-revolution 1958 Cuba. Filmed in 1974, one of the scenes was filmed on the bridge on West 41st street in Miami Beach. Other scenes from the movie were filmed at the Hialeah Park.
The Day of the Dolphin
Dr. Jake Terrell, who has been training a pair of dolphins for many years, has had a breakthrough. He has taught his dolphins to speak and understand English, although they do have a limited vocabulary. When the dolphins are stolen, he discovers they're to be used in an assassination attempt. The movie was filmed in 1973 and features a scene with docks where a boat to Bahamas is boarded. This scene was filmed on Watson Island. Today Watson Island is home to Jungle Island (formally Parrot Jungle), Miami Children's Museum and the Miami Yacht Club.
The Darwin Adventure
Filmed in 1972 at Monkey Jungle, this film tells the personal vicissitudes of Charles Darwin, his doubts and discoveries and his trip around the world. Monkey Jungle is a 30-acre zoological park. It was established in 1933 by Joseph DuMond for the exhibition and study of endangered monkeys in semi-natural habitats after releasing six Java Monkeys into a subtropical forest the park is now home to over 300 primates.

Lady in Cement
Tony Rome is a Miami-based detective who while diving in the ocean finds the body of a young woman. He is hired by Gronsky to find her killer. Tony has to sift through a stack of suspects, plus trying to elude the police. Filmed in 1967 starring Frank Sinatra and Raquel Welch, the film featured several locations around Miami-Dade including Jilly's night club in North Bay Village. During its early years, North Bay Village was primarily a haven for winter residents. The Village became widely known for its popular restaurants and nightclubs, which attracted celebrities like Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Judy Garland. Jilly Rizzo was a businessman and close friend of Frank Sinatra who later became one of Sinatra's chief aides. Jilly's was next door to Dino's owned by Dean Martin. In the 1980's this club was redecorated for the Porky's trilogy. The club opened in 1966 and was dissolved by proclamation in 1969 and no longer exists today.
Tony Rome
Tony Rome, a tough Miami private investigator living on a houseboat, is hired by a local millionaire to find jewelry stolen from his daughter, and in the process has several encounters with local hoods as well as the Miami Beach Police Department Filmed in 1967 starring Frank Sinatra, one of the scenes was filmed at Mount Sinai Medical Center. Mount Sinai Medical Center is the largest independent nonprofit hospital in South Florida. The institution was incorporated in 1946, and opened in its current location in 1949. Many celebrities from Jackie Gleason to Michael Jackson have been treated there.
Clambake
The heir to an oil fortune trades places with a waterski instructor at a Florida hotel to see if girls will like him for himself, rather than his father's money. Filmed in 1967 starring Elvis Presley, one of the locations used in the movie is Bill Baggs State Park Cape Florida Lighthouse. Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park is the home of a historic lighthouse built in 1825 and reconstructed in 1846, and is the oldest standing structure in Miami-Dade County. Guided tours of the lighthouse and lighthouse keeper's cottage are given twice daily and also includes two restaurants. Other movies that filmed here include Wild Things, The Specialist and They Were Expendable.
The Happening
A few hippies "go with the flow" and end up kidnapping a retired Mafia kingpin. Filmed in 1967 in various locations around Miami, one of the scenes was filmed at Baker's Haulover Inlet, is a manmade channel connecting the northern end of Biscayne Bay with the Atlantic Ocean. The inlet was cut in 1925 through a narrow point in the sand between the cities of Bal Harbour and Sunny Isles Beach. It is the location of an official nude beach, recreation areas and marina in the 99 acre Haulover Park. A fixed bridge carries Collins Avenue across the inlet.
Around the World Under the Sea
The crew of a five man submarine travels the world oceans, planting sensors on the ocean floor to warn scientists of any impending earthquakes. Filmed in 1966 starring Lloyd Bridges and Shirley Eaton, most of the movie was shot at the Ivan Tors Studios now called Greenwich Studios. Founded by the legendary film producer Ivan Tors/MGM in the early 1960's, the studio has been successfully servicing the entertainment industry for many years.. The television series Flipper also filmed at the studio. Movies that have filmed at Greenwich Studios include Miami Vice, The Specialist, True Lies, Just Cause, Striptease, The Birdcage, There's Something About Mary, Wild Things, Analyze This, Any Given Sunday, Bad Boys 2, Stuck on You and Transporter 2.
Flipper
Ranger Porter Ricks is responsible for the animal and human life in Coral Key Park, Florida. Stories center on his 15 year old son Sandy and 10 year old Bud and, especially, on their pet dolphin Flipper. Filmed from 1964-1967 at Miami Seaquarium as well as Greenwich Studios in North Miami. The Miami Seaquarium is a 38 acre oceanarium located on the island of Virginia Key in Biscayne Bay. Founded in 1955, it is one of the oldest oceanariums in the United States. In addition to marine mammals, the Miami Seaquarium houses fish, sharks, sea turtles, birds, reptiles and manatees. The park offers daily presentations and hosts overnight camps, events for boy scouts, and group programs. Over 500,000 people visit the facility annually. The movie Striptease also filmed here.
Goldfinger (James Bond 007)
Investigating a gold magnate's smuggling, James Bond uncovers a plot to contaminate the Fort Knox gold reserve. Filmed in 1967 starring Sean Connery as James Bond 007, one of the most memorable scenes was filmed at the Fontainebleau Hotel swimming pool. The film clip from this scene is included here. Other movies filmed at the hotel include Chef, Pain & Gain, Miami Vice, The Specialist, The Bodyguard, Police Academy 5, Scarface, Tony Rome and The Bellboy.
The Bellboy
In Miami Beach, the mute bellboy Stanley works at the luxurious Fontainebleau Hotel. In spite of being a serviceable and friendly employee, the clumsy Stanley gets successively into trouble with his mistakes. Filmed in 1960 starring Jerry Lewis, the entire movie was filmed at the Fontainebleau Hotel.

A Hole in the Head
An impractical widower tries to hang onto his Miami hotel and his 12 year old son. Filmed in 1959 starring Frank Sinatra, many of the main scenes in the movie were filmed at the Cardozo Hotel. In this film clip there are great views of Ocean Drive and Miami Beach in 1959. Today, this posh hotel, owned by entertainers Gloria and Emilio Estefan, resides in South Beach's art deco district. Other movies that have filmed here include There's Something About Mary and Any Given Sunday.
Miami Expose
Miami cop Bart Scott tracks down, in Cuba, a fugitive witness who can shed light in a double homicide and about the activities of a Miami mob lawyer who uses murder and blackmail in order to force the legalization of gambling in Florida. Filmed in 1956, many of the scenes were filmed in Florida near the Eden Roc Hotel on Collins Avenue. Eden Roc Miami Beach has been a favorite of distinguished guests from politicians to Hollywood's top stars since it opened its doors in 1955. Other movies that have filmed here include Miami Vice and Step Up Revolution.

Moon Over Miami
Moon Over Miami (1941) is a musical comedy from 20th Century Fox, starring Betty Grable, Don Ameche, Carole Landis, Charlotte Greenwood, and Robert Cummings. It is the story of two sisters from Texas that travel to Florida looking for rich husbands. One of the scenes was filmed at the Flamingo Hotel on Miami Beach that was demolished in 1955. Today the redeveloped site is the Flamingo South Beach.
The 1941 film was a well-worn trope.
The Birds and the Beasts Were There
This short subject visits three animal parks in Miami, two of which still operate today. At the time of filming, these attractions were considered to be in the outskirts of the city. The first stop is the Rare Bird Farm, where many rare chickens, cranes, and other birds are on display. Then it's off to the Monkey Jungle, where the visitors are caged and the simian inhabitants roam in freedom. The last stop is the Parrot Jungle. The Rare Bird Farm closed in 1961 and was sold for commercial and residential development. Monkey Jungle, begun in 1935, is still open and covers 30 acres. Also opened in 1935 in Pinecrest, Florida, Parrot Jungle moved to Watson Island, Miami in 2003 and has changed its name to Jungle Island. Its previous location was made into a public recreation center known as Pinecrest Gardens.

The Jungle Trail
The Jungle Trial is said to have been the first movie filmed in the City of Miami. Completed in 1919, the movie was partly shot in the Spring Garden subdivision, where a Hindu village was erected. One of the most elaborate buildings on the set was a temple located on the bank of an artificial lake at the end of the Seybold Canal. Constructed of impermanent materials, the building was destroyed upon completion of filming. The temple, however, had captured the imagination of the citizens of Miami, and John Seybold decided to build a less elaborate version of the building on the same site, which he owned. The permanent structure was built in 1920 and designated as a historical site in 1991.
Miami Studios, Inc.
Miami Studios, Inc. was a moving picture studio located at the northwest corner of W. 9th Street and 2nd Avenue (then called Opa-locka Avenue) in the City of Hialeah. It is the first record of a movie studio in Miami-Dade County and was built in 1921. E. G. Sewell, the Mayor of Miami, was influential in getting it built. The first movie out of the studio was called "Outlaws of the Sea" (1923). It was based on Filigree Flask, a story about rum runners written by Miami area resident E. H. Lebel. "Where the Pavement Ends" (1923) is also believed to have been filmed there. Miami Studios was dissolved by proclamation on June 4, 1936 and the building is no longer standing today.
