A Story Tour of Glentrool

Located in the Galloway and Southern Ayrshire UNESCO Biosphere, Glentrool was the region's first Biosphere Community. It sits in the heart of the Galloway Forest in south-west Scotland, at the foot of the Galloway hills and close to Loch Trool.

Steeped in history, the landscape is rich in wildlife and rugged beauty.

From ancient oak woodlands and heather moors to dark skies and soaring buzzards, listen to the residents of Glentrool as they share what makes this corner of the world so special.

Learn about the people who lived, worked and fought here in the past, what Glentrool is like now, and how it is looking to the future.

Each of the 16 pins on the map below links to a short video in which local residents describe some of the things that make the Glentrool area a wonderful place in which to live and to visit.
