The Peony

Artist: Giovannie Dixon,  @justcreatedit  Location: Verde at Cooley Station |  3945 E. Williams Field Rd.

“Giovannie draws influences from various sources, including the city and community surrounding him.  His artwork resonates with the pulse and energy of urban life,  capturing the essence of the streets and their diverse cultures. Moreover, he celebrates and explores the richness of black culture, infusing his creations with symbols, themes, and iconography that reflect the heritage and experiences of the African diaspora.”

Hummingbird Mural

Artist: Unknown Location: Verde at Cooley Station |  3945 E. Williams Field Rd.

Tiger Feast Mural

Artist: Taylor Jensen,  @baconcat  Location: Verde at Cooley Station |  3945 E. Williams Field Rd.

“I began secretly  hiding cheeseburgers  in my work as a joke and a way for viewers to actively engage with my work. Much like a "Where's waldo?" book, the cheeseburgers give people a reason to spend a little more time looking at and studying the murals and paintings, rather than just scrolling past my work like a meme or new story.” – Taylor Jensen

1964 Chevy C10

Artist: Adam Vigil,  @abombtheartist  Location: Verde at Cooley Station |  3945 E. Williams Field Rd.

Vermilion Flycatcher Mural

Artist: Mac Schneider,  @macsch_  Location: Verde at Cooley Station |  3945 E. Williams Field Rd.

Love

Artist: Nyla Lee,  @nyla.lee  Location: Verde at Cooley Station |  3945 E. Williams Field Rd.

Gilbert Deconstructed

Artist: Liz Tayor Location: Ash Street Parking Garage |  75 W. Vaughn Avenue

This vinyl art wrap is part of an ongoing effort to enhance and beautify downtown Gilbert's corridors and pathways. It's located at the Ash Street Parking Garage and is located on the north door facing the Western Powerline Trail. The 84-inch-tall art piece, titled Gilbert Deconstructed, is from Phoenician artist  Liz Taylor  whose artwork has a national following with signature pieces designed for Target, The Phoenix Suns and Minted among others.

“Abstract repeat pattern using the name 'Gilbert,' hand-lettered and then deconstructed to create a modernized graffiti-inspired pattern. A play on the renovation, development, and growth of the dynamic Town of Gilbert as a destination for live, work and play.” - Liz Taylor

Illuminating the Past of our Native American First Settlers

Artist: Rosa Cruz Location: Hearne Way Parking Garage |  30 E. Hearne Way  This vinyl art wrap is part of an ongoing effort to enhance and beautify downtown Gilbert's corridors and pathways. It's located at the Hearne Way Parking Garage and is on the north side facing the Western Powerline Trail. Titled Illuminating the Past of our Native American First Settlers, this vinyl wrap was created by former Arizona resident Rosa Cruz and is 94" tall. “I take as inspiration the Native American Heritage of Arizona, as a form of bringing awareness of the original inhabitants of Gilbert, and to celebrate and take care to learn more about the traditions and culture of our indigenous culture and community.” - Rosa Cruz

Woman and Gardenias Mural

Artist: Price Goodman,  @pricegoodman  Location: Verde at Cooley Station |  3945 E. Williams Field Rd.

“Art doesn't have to have any meaning, it's art.  Sometimes the artist just enjoys the act of creation  and sometimes the viewer just enjoys staring at something other than a blank wall.” – Price Goodman

Happy Dog, Magic Desert

Artist: Lucretia Torva,  @torvasm  Location: Verde at Cooley Station |  3945 E. Williams Field Rd.

"I hope to inspire viewers to look at the world with  greater care and amazement .” – Lucretia Torva

Artist: Joe Hunsaker,  @smokeyjoepaintco  Location: Verde at Cooley Station |  3945 E. Williams Field Rd.

Hoop Dance Mural

Artist: Jesse Yazzie,  @jesse.yazzie  Location: Verde at Cooley Station |  3945 E. Williams Field Rd.

“My signature style was born out of adversity, influenced by graffiti and street culture. I infuse skulls with bold lines into contrasting Arizona colors. Each skull represents either an emotion or a person. Each piece, resembling the pages of my journey, visually represents my life in both Phoenix and the Navajo Reservation— continuously delving into the dichotomy of my identity. ” - Yazzie

Abstract Mural

Artist: John “MDMN” Moody,  @madmanart  Location: Verde at Cooley Station |  3945 E. Williams Field Rd.

“If nothing else I want to bring viewers back to their youth, where all we did was create, imagine, and explore curiosities. By celebrating inner strength and utilizing contrasting, vivid color theory, I bring a peripheral view of work that rockets towards you off of a flat surface. You can displace imagination and dreams through years of disjointed paths, but through my work  I can hope you at least lose yourself for a moment in a beaming fantasy world of luminescence and adventure. ” - MDMN

Jimi Hendrix Mural

Artist: Joe Hunsaker,  @smokeyjoepaintco  Location: Verde at Cooley Station |  3945 E. Williams Field Rd.

Artist: Tato Caraveo,  @tatocaraveo  Location: Verde at Cooley Station |  3945 E. Williams Field Rd.

For the past thirty years, Tato Caraveo has been a prominent figure in the Phoenix art scene,  specializing in murals and fine art…. Though it is difficult for him to juggle his artistic career with his musical career as a bassist, Tato tries to throw a musical element into his art whenever he can.”

"You Create You"

Artist: Giovannie Dixon,  @justcreatedit  Location: Verde at Cooley Station |  3945 E. Williams Field Rd.

“Giovannie draws influences from various sources, including the city and community surrounding him.  His artwork resonates with the pulse and energy of urban life,  capturing the essence of the streets and their diverse cultures. The Three Stooges

Artist: Ize,  @ize_official  Location: The Brass Tap, Verde at Cooley Station |  2442 S. Recker Road, Suite 101

“Art is so intimate that every viewer has its own interpretation of what it means to them. The art I make isn't meant for me, it's meant for everyone but me. That's why I don't give any of my art pieces proper names or titles. It's up to the viewer to do that.” - Ize

Steam Locomotive by Sunrise

This traffic signal cabinet mural is part of an effort to increase public art in Gilbert's Downtown Heritage District.

Local artist Kelsey Phillips was selected to complete the project by a committee comprised of Town of Gilbert staff, members of the Redevelopment Commission and Heritage District merchants.

Kelsey's inspiration for the concept: "In this mural, I combine Gilbert’s past as a railroad town along the Arizona Eastern Railway, various species of native birds, and whimsical clouds and smoke to commemorate the past, present, and future of the Town. Wildlife is a fundamental part of living in the Sonoran Desert and all of the bird species depicted can be found at the local Riparian Preserve at Water Ranch, a bird watching destination."

Artist: Kelsey Phillips |  @keymintt

Patterns From the Earth

This traffic signal cabinet mural is part of an effort to increase public art in Gilbert's Downtown Heritage District.

Local artist Lora Barnhiser was selected to complete the project by a committee comprised of Town of Gilbert staff, members of the Redevelopment Commission and Heritage District merchants.

Lora's inspiration for the concept: "The land we live on provides us with a bounty of textures, patterns and surfaces to visually explore. Gilbert has no shortage of interesting features and foliage, both man made and from nature."

Artist: Lora Barnhiser |  @regrain.studio

Gilbert, Then and Now

The traffic signal cabinet mural is part of an effort to increase public art in Gilbert's Downtown Heritage District.

Local artist Carla Keaton was selected to complete the project by a committee comprised of Town of Gilbert staff, members of the Redevelopment Commission and Heritage District merchants.

Carla said, "This piece was inspired by the time I spent living in Gilbert at my fathers house from 1996- 1998. I remember walking the canal trails behind the new neighborhood development, and being surrounded by farms on both sides. Now, 20 something years later, the view from the canal is vastly different. There are new homes and businesses along that same canal path, as far as the eye can see. It seemed appropriate to illustrate through this painting, Gilbert’s evolution from a thriving farming community to a thriving downtown scene."

Artist: Carla Keaton |  @keatonfineart

Local artist Ariana Enriquez was selected to complete the project by a committee comprised of Town of Gilbert staff, members of the Redevelopment Commission and Heritage District merchants.

I wanted my design to reflect this idea, as well as celebrate how Gilbert both preserves and values its heritage."

Artist: Ariana Enriquez  @arianabelen.art

Grazing Gilbert

Festive Filaments

When improving Hearne and Vaughn, Gilbert utilized the opportunity to give a nod to its heritage. The circular pattern is meant to mimic cotton, while the lined design represents hay, two crops that were grown in the Heritage District long ago. ⁣

The changing lights above Hearne Way are a "reflection" of the circles below, providing a unique atmosphere along the curbless street.

To enhance the experience even further, the Hearne Plaza Garage, which features a clock tower, is uplit to match the light rotation colors in the street.

9-11 Memorial

Gilbert’s 9/11 memorial gives all a place to pause, touch, and remember; to feel united again and thankful for our fragile liberty.

The memorial features an 8-foot steel girder beam that once held up the North Tower of the World Trade Center. Four granite walls feature the names of those lost in the attacks. The memorial rests on a pentagon shape and is surrounded by bricks, some of which have messages from donors.

The memorial would not have been accomplished with the dedication and support of generous donors who provided supplies and the design.  Click here to see the full list.
