Farm House Tour

Trade Route Map - Farm House Community was located near an important trade route that ran from Lebanon Community, near Roswell, into Forsyth County. The Farm House Community’s center was located west of the area later developed as Preston Ridge and approximately 1.7 miles east of the current Alpharetta City Hall. Earlier names for Preston Ridge peak were Townley’s Mountain and Burnett’s mountain. In the 1950s , the United States Forestry Service constructed a fire watchtower here, from which observers could direct firefighters.  Old Milton County Map - showing Farm House Location.  Burnett Family - In 1908, Clark and Ann James Burnett, with eight of their nine children, are photographed at the family home on Burnett’s Mountain (currently Preston Ridge). Original Dam Wall - We believe that the original dam wall was reinforced with concrete to keep the dam wall intact. Photo shows a date of 1912 etched into the concrete.  Billy Bates - Local Historian Billy Bates standing on the dam wall at Farm House 2008.  Teasley Creek - Image taken in 2008 of Teasley Creek that powered the mill at Farm House from 1834-1858. The dam was in operation until the mid-1920s. This was a popular swimming place for the community. It was called “Slick Rock.”
