Assessing Correlations between Homeless Programs, Employment Services, and Client Outcomes

This research project, led by Dr. Patricia Leslie, explores two questions:

1) Do homeless service programs with signed contracts with public or private entities to provide employment or employment training yield better outcomes for their clients (increased income; higher levels of participation in work)?

2) What are these outcomes for veteran and youth programs?

The research will focus on CoC- funded programs in the San Diego area. Given the limited number of veteran and youth-specific programs in the area, in order to strengthen the statistical analysis, the project proposes to include CoC- funded programs in surrounding areas in the sample. Participation of the broader group of programs will be facilitated through Urban Initiatives and the Southern California Continuum of Care Leadership Collaborative.
