The first trail town in the Florida Panhandle is conveniently situated on the 9-mile Blackwater Heritage State Trail.
Greenways
The Blackwater Heritage State Trail
This linear State Park runs directly through the community of Milton and provides all the amenities you would expect from Florida's award winning State Park Service.
Designated as a National Recreation Trail and part of Florida's Greenways and Trails System, this paved trail is the perfect venue for biking, running, walking and skating, along with picnicking and bird-watching activities.
The trail extends eight miles north to join the U.S. Navy's 1.5-mile Military Heritage Trail, which ends at the Naval Air Station Whiting Field.
There are 3 trailheads located within city limits.
There is also a public restroom at the Elva street trailhead.
The Old Spanish Trail
This seven mile trail will take you past state road 87, where you will find a variety of lodging options.
This brick trail starts just east of Milton and takes you on the route of the Old Spanish Highway.
From the Milton side, be sure to that are less traveled than US 90.

Bicycle Maintenance
Truly Spokin Bicycle Company provides a free check-up for your bike and has everything in stock to get you back on the trail!
If the bike shop is closed, there are two bike repair stations located on the trail. One at the Visitor Center and one at the Elva street trailhead.
Downtown Milton
Ample sidewalk connections to the trail make it easy to walk to Milton's downtown district.
Take a walk along the Blackwater River on Milton's Riverwalk.

Milton has a variety of parks that are accessible from the trail.
Carpenter's Park
Russell Harber Landing Park
Be sure to check out the while over here. This idyllic hike will take you along the Blackwater River, allowing you to reconnect with nature.
Lucille Johnson Park
Looking to play some basketball while in town? Head over to Lucille Johnson Park where you will find !
The Community Center offers Tai chi and yoga classes twice a week.
There is a skate park here as well.

Blueways
Looking to get on the water while visiting Milton? No problem. There are multiple spots around Milton for you to launch your kayak, paddleboard or canoe into the Blackwater River.
