Schenley Park
"Situated in the heart of Oakland, Schenley Park has come to be Pittsburgh’s civic park." -Pittsburgh Park Conservancy
Named after Mary Schenley, the park open in 1889 after she donated the land. Today the park contains 456 acres that is visited daily by local university students, business-people, and anyone else that wants to escape from the city. Trails with scenic woods are filled with amenities such as a merry-go-round and picnic spots. There are also major events held every year such as the "Vintage Grand Prix" and the "Pittsburgh Race for the Cure"
Eastern Parks
Frick Park

Frick park was first open in 1899 with the donation of 151 acres of land from Henry Clay Frick and the additional land annexed. The park is known for its extensive wooded trails and its ideal escape from the noise of the city. Visitors can enjoy viewing over 100 species of birds that have been recorded at Clayton Hill. In addition there are plenty of other amenities for the whole family including the famous Blue Slide Playground, the Frick Environmental Center, tennis, baseball, and the only public lawn bowling green in Pennsylvania.
Northern Parks
Riverview Park

Formerly farmland, Riverview Park was created 1894. The park is known for its great trails through dense woodlands in its 259-acres for hikers and horseback riders! Visitors can also enjoy the Allegheny Observatory, visitors center, pool, playground, baseball, and activities building. In addition, the park also houses the recently restored Chapel Shelter. What once was a Presbyterian Church is now a great spot for picnicking. Summertime events such as concerts and movies are also frequent.
Northeast Parks
Highland Park
In 1899 Highland park was established after increased popularity for the areas open space and scenic beauty was discovered. Visitors can enjoy a Victorian-style garden with fountain and reflecting pool. Other amenities include bike trails, swimming pool, volleyball, large wooden playground and access to the Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium!

Mt. Washington Park has great features such as two baseball fields, a basket ball court, and a playground. In addition, it is connected to great trails! Visitors love walking the mile loop trail that the park connects to.
