Northern Michigan's Spring 2021 Climatology

Above normal temperatures with below normal snowfall and precipitation for all climate sites.

  • All climate sites recorded above normal temperatures for the Spring season. All sites fell within the top ten warmest springs in recorded history with the exception of Houghton Lake.
    • All climate sites recorded below normal precipitation and snowfall. Although sites recorded above normal precipitation for May, March and April were both mostly below normal, ending in a below normal spring season. If it wasn't for the first week of May seeing a two day period with a stationary front draped overhead for several days, we would have been much more below normal with probably sites in northern lower falling within or near the top ten driest springs of all time. All sites in northern lower did however fall into the top 10 for the least snowiest in recorded history with the above normal temperatures producing a lot more rain than snow during the Spring season.
