Add the redlining boundaries shapefile to your project.

Navigate to the site https://dsl.richmond.edu/panorama/redlining/#loc=5/39.1/-94.58&text=downloads, scroll down to the search tab, and input Chicago. Download a shapefile of the boundaries into your Final Project folder in the GISIL drive.
Input “holc_ad_data” and “area_descriptions”into your project
In the area_descriptions data table, delete all columns not associated with Chicago.
In the holc_ad_data data table, delete all columns not associated with Chicago.
In the city_population_data.csv data table, delete all columns not associated with Chicago.

Create join between tables.

Join holc_ad_data and area_descriptions using the field “holc_id” as the join input field

Add census tracks to your project.

Navigate to the site https://www.census.gov/geographies/mapping-files/time-series/geo/tiger-data.html, scroll down to block group, and select Illinois. Download the file into your Final Project folder in the GISIL drive. Input the block group polygon, income, and race data into your project.
Using the “Project” tool, project the holc_ad_data layer into NAD 83 and rename the ACS_2021_5YR_BG_17_Illinois layer to BGsIllinois.
In holc83, open “Symbology” and set primary symbology to unique values, field 1 to holc_grade, and assign the different grades different colors to visualize redlined boundaries
Join race and income data tables to the ACS_2021_5YR_BG_17_Illinois layer using GEOID and GEOID data as the input join field and rename the layer BGsIllinois.

Add hazardous facility site data to your project.

Navigate to the site https://enviro.epa.gov/triexplorer/release_fac?p_view=COFA&trilib=TRIQ1&sort=_VIEW_&sort_fmt=1&state=17&county=17031&chemical=All+chemicals&industry=ALL&year=2021&tab_rpt=1&fld=RELLBY&fld=TSFDSP, select Go to New Report, Release Reports, and then Facility. Select Illinois and Cook County under the Select Geographic Location tab, and click all boxes on the right side. Click Generate Report and export the report as a CSV file into your Final Project folder in the GISIL drive.
Load the CSV file into Excel and clean the data into a usable format for ArcGIS Pro. Remove unneeded rows (rows without data)
Create useable headers so ArcGIS can read
Create a column to determine if the record is a Facility or Detail record (use function =IF(ISNUMBER(cell), “Facility,” “Detail”)
Create a column to determine the facility ID for the chemical rows under each facility (use the function =IF(cell=” Detail,”(cell of trif id of record before), (cell of trif id of the facility row)
Create a column to determine the latitude and longitude for each chemical line using the same function as before, but with latitude and longitude cells of the facility row before
Remove TRIF ID and Latitude and Longitude columns created by the site
Isolate columns to use in future maps (latitude, longitude, TRIF ID, facility or detail, facility, fugitive air emissions, point source air emissions, other landfills, total on and off-site disposal, or other releases)
Replace all values with “.” with 0 using a find and replace function
Create 2 separate spreadsheets of data separating facility and detail data, and save them separately as facilitycleaned.csv and chemicalcleaned.csv
Input files into ArcGIS Pro. Right-click on the file, click Display XY data, and set the coordinate system to NAD83. Make sure the X field is set as longitude and the Y field is set as latitude
Join both point data layers together using TRIF_ID as the input join field
Export displayed release sites to a feature class (Data, Export Features)

Determine the POC population percentage in the BGsIllinois data table.

Add a new field in the fields view called “%NONWHITE.” Open the field calculator, and calculate the value by inputting ((B02001e1 - B02001e2) / B02001e1) * 100. B02001e1 is the total population, and B02001e2 is the total white population.

Isolate Income groups using "Select by Attribute"

Isolate groups with an average median income greater than 100,000 and then less than 40,000 and name the layers "BGsIllinois_100k" and "BGsIllinois_40k"

Capture Global Moran’s I

Navigate to Analysis, then Tools, then spatial statistical tools, analyzing patterns, and finally Spatial Autocorrelation (Global Moran’s I)
Use any wanted dataset and field for input feature value (income, demographic, percent poc, chemicals, facility sites, point source air emissions, etc.)
Select “generate report,” set the distance threshold for 1000 m, and hit “run”
Capture results

Capture cluster areas

Navigate to spatial statistics tools, mapping clusters, and “Cluster and Outlier Analysis (Anselin Local Moran’s I)
Use any wanted dataset and field for input feature value (income, demographic, chemical, point source air emissions, etc.), select a name output feature class, and save it to your Final Project folder in the GISIL drive.
Set the distance threshold to 1000 m, set apply FDR Correction, and hit “Run”
Change the map to present the p-value.

Repeat this process for all desired features income, demographic, chemical, point
source air emissions, etc

Capture EJI trends against redlining boundaries

Import the EJI data from the CDC site as a CSV file into the Final Project file in ArcGIS Pro.
In "Select by Attributes," select out areas that are in Illinois and in Cook County and export features to a new layer named "EJICookCounty"
